S.S.G.M.C.E, situated in a small town, shegaon reminds me of a deep, vast and calm ocean which is about to leap and roar!
I joined this institute in 1997 after my XII as an undergraduate for B.E. in computer science and engg. Hope to Graduate this summer (results are around the corner) but that is not all with which I leave this institute. My four years stay in the campus has taught me more than the books are willing to teach. Every new year that I progressed I found myself like a climber of a mountain whose horizon increases as he climbs higher.
The small size and the underdeveloped nature of the town has left no scar on the 84 acres of lush green campus dotted with best infrastructure and modern amenities. Every student is promised the best of hostel every year. The best thing about it is that every year along with your classes you also gradute to a new hostel! This is always very exciting as each hostel has its history and mystery!!. The library is onother place where I spent most of my time. The lab is slowly getting upgraded with the best....atlast! Canteen, Khamgaon Gate and TAPRI are other special spots or place in the campus.
The classess were fun...i bet they still are. But they need to get little more experts in all depts. The last hour submissions, home works, copying practical files, glass tracing the drawing sheets and fooling the profs were all a part of a hectic but fun filled schdule of the day.
Exams were special out here. This may be because we all styed together in the hostel. Rushing to each other to crack a tough question or just getting together to come up with a solution that apparently had bowled us all......and we did come up with innovative solutions....that's always possible in Comp sci.
Sports complex was another of my favourite. From full fledged gym to TT, badminton, boxing(i took up just couple of months before my last year....folks I enjoyed it, leaving ofcourse the day I sprained my two fingers ;-) . Cricket was the passion and will surely miss the intra-class tournaments. Its here I played and aspired to be a lawn tennis champ, but soon had to abandon the idea as it was very demnding on time and soul!
The festivals were very special, Holi, Diwali, EId were just one of the reasons to get together and party. I remember, the holi days. Wet in and wet out....where ever you go water baloons, water bottles, buckets!! were always on you!. The camaradrie that living together has fostered and induced within us is one thing special that I will always carry from that place.
The college, though little known but is a pot melting pot of true spirits, education, fun, camaradrie......that all in all is a distinct and unique culture, which we call it ssgmcite's.
The college apart from being graded 'A+' by the state govt., 'A' by AICTE(All India Council of tech Edn.) and 'B'by the National board of accreditation......just the second private college in whole maharashtra to get this distiction and the third over all
I am sure time spent here is a time worth spent.
