Staff Attitude:

Amongst these times when everyone is losing their dear ones due to COVID, my heart weeps for my father whom I lost a few months back(Jan 22, 2021) not due to COVID but due to the carelessness of the hospital.

I am compiling all the incidents in few points for better understanding.

1.My father was diagnosed with lymphoma Carcinoma and later thrombosis happened, we were consulting Himalaya, but as we were not at all satisfied with the way they were treating him we decided to take him to Delhi, in the meantime he suffered his first brain stroke and his right hand stopped working. On many people’s suggestion, we took him to this hospital(Indresh) as two eminent neurologists were sitting here. That was the sole reason, as in CT scans the infarcts were minor, and on consulting some three docs we were told that its minor and he will be ok within a month but as he was not able to sleep and was restless so we took him to the hospital.

2.The day we took him there he could walk with little support and was all ok except he was not able to sleep and restlessness was there, we wanted to show him to those best neurologists for faster recovery so that we could take him to Delhi for further treatment.

3.First time - he was taken to emergency, would like to tell the attitude of the staff there, they are very chilled out, don’t take any action promptly, you have to keep on chasing one person after another and they will keep on passing the bucks to others. We came to emergency three times and faced the same challenges.

Second time – My father was seriously ill still the attitude was the same, no one was ready to start the treatment, we kept on telling the history, they kept on throwing the ball in some other doc court and tried to drive us away. The in-charge doctor was hardly concerned with any happenings and was not ready to start the treatment.

Third time – When the third brain stroke had happened and he was unconscious, first the guard stopped us saying that he cannot be taken in even though was treated here and we should show all the records then only he will allow us to take him inside, by now I lost it and started shouting that this can be done later first his treatment should start. Again, the same story, lousy staff which was very slow in doing everything, we had to push them for faster treatment, and to start the required tests. They were standing, chatting, and taking their own sweet time, there was no rush the way it should be in such an emergency. We were shouting, crying and were trying to push them to start the treatment.

I lost my daddy the very night on the stretcher, they didn’t even shift him on a bed, only in the morning when the inspection was to happen, they shifted him. The junior doc has told us that hemorrhage was quite bad and he cannot be operated upon, he was on a ventilator and the entire night we were monitoring all his stats, was running after docs and nurses to do something about his falling pressure, they were not even ready to administer the medicine which is used to stabilise the pressure due to some administrative code.

4.About admission and care – It took us an almost entire day on the first admission by eve we got a Pvt room and despite requesting them several times they were not starting the treatment saying that had it been a general ward it would have started but in Pvt rooms it takes time, they were not concerned about the pains that my father was going through. Worth mentioning the entire day he was in the hospital and nothing was done to take care of his pain, no treatment was given, as per them this needs to be started in the room only and now in the room due to their workload, they were not doing anything. Imagine the patient not getting any treatment in the hospital itself-the staff was super rude. They were not doing any of the things on time and we had to keep on chasing them forever thing, Next day head of the nurse was changing the cannula and she removed the entire bandage with super force causing all hair of the area to come out, that too with needle in- my father screamed in pain, I had never seen my daddy in such pain, after few minutes despite being under treatment he had his second stroke and stopped talking and his entire left side was not functioning, We were told that it was not related to the maltreatment of that nurse but in my heart it struct that all this happened due to that mishandling of cannula.

Daddy was admitted there for 10 days, in which we had to do all work which those staffs were supposed to do, they didn’t know anything about medicines and didn’t know about patients handling at all. All day long and nights we had to chase them for medicines, injections, and other stuff. A junior doctor was also super rude and used to say “at the age of 74 if you expect your patient to recover fast, that’s not going to happen”. It is on Senior neurologist under whom daddy has admitted intervention he started talking a bit nicer.

For any type of test, we had to take care of everything with little or no help from the staff.

The second day itself my daddy’s condition had gone bad and it kept on deteriorating, while the hospital staff started pushing us to take discharge as per them daddy should be all ok within a month with medication and physiotherapy. His stomach ache and restlessness had even increased and he was not able to sleep at all. We didn’t take discharge as we were not confident, however on constant perusal from different docs and staff we did it

The second time we had to go there as my father had bad pain in the nail and on consulting his neurologist he said that it requires removal, we thought after this everything will be ok, again we had to face callous attitude in emergency and kept running from one dept to other to get him admitted and same Pvt room was again allotted. Again, same story- lousy staff, no care, however, the doc under whom daddy was admitted got all the consultations done to pinpoint the pain issue and on the designated day the operation was performed. We were relieved, daddy seems to be a little better and slept but that was the short-lived same night he started getting bad cramps every 10 mins. The entire night he was in excruciating pain, next day we consulted all related docs, not to any relief. And again in such a situation we were asked to take discharge, we said no, they kept on putting pressure that this dept cannot do any further treatment so they can't keep him there, we were advised to readmit under the previous doc. He also said that due to some technical reasons he can't take the transfer and this pain will go off and we should take the discharge, and as the COVID was on rising, if that happens then it will be difficult to manage. It made sense and we took the discharge. At home, the things were getting better and on 21st evening within 2 days of discharge, he puked and seemed like got fit and became unconscious, hurriedly took him to Indresh emergency as since he was treated there 2 times and treatment was going there, Again same carelessness, Despite telling them all situation and seeing patients condition they were very easy, no promptness and any sense of urgency, here again for everything we had to push them.

Lost My Daddy in the same stretcher in which he was brought inside, the entire night he was not even put on the bed, all tests and monitoring happened on a stretcher, at dawn when they sensed that some survey can happen they put my daddy on the bed and afterward announced that he is dead.

Please do not take your loved ones to this horrible hospital if you want to see them coming out recovering and alive.
