Shop India But With Utmost Caution

With a mind set created by many a users stories, which proclaims that "what is shown has not been delivered" when you buy online, I went ahead with my intution to buy through online module of India shopping.


Before doing online shopping, I went to Indiatimes shopping page and read all the review and feedback from the customers. To my astonishment there were mixed responses. Many has given positive and many has given negative feedback. Some, have take neutral position. Even in Mouthshut there were quite a few reviews amounting to overall negative feedback on Indiatimes Shopping.


This time I had already decided on what to buy, all I was looking for was a Universal Remote. So, I did a search with the term "Universal Remote", where I had been shown few products, when I tried the option with "Remote" there were many a products, with less cost are shown in the page. I chose one of the product from it and paid through Paymateoption.


I had a set mind that I should not track the order for the first 10 Days. Luckily, I got the order at my doorsteps through courier well before the deadline that I had set to myself. **The product, which I had ordered for had many a descriptions shown in it's Shopping Page, but the product, which I received was totally different and few of the functionalities, which were shown in the shopping page were not available in the product. I have written an email to the customer care, for which I am yet to receive a reply.


*They have Free Shipping, 15 Days Money Back Guarantee and other options, but I cannot comment on these as this is not applicable for the product that I have purchased.


Now the tricky part on After sales service, I really don’t have any clue, what if a product doesn’t work. It’s been told by the customer I have to send it to the Marketing Agency from where I have received this Universal Remote.


But, who will bear the courier charges and what time line would it take for servicing/exchange. If somebody has got some experience on this kindly comment. My personal opinion on the above servicing issue is, don't go in for Biggies, if you just want to give a try go for online shopping. You can have one more yard stick, if the Marketing Agency, which dispatches your product is well within your city, then you may go in for Biggies too.


Overall an average online shopping experience, never go in for the products that you haven't witnessed. All these online shopping portals have some what strong processes, if by chance your order goes through a weak link, then the customer care part will make sure that you become an irate customer.
