What it Takes to Make a Classic?
A great script, a good location, brilliant performance, innovative direction skill, but you have to sum up all this in one word it will just a ''Sholay''
“Jab Dhoor Gaon Main Baacha Rota Hai to Maa Kahti Hai Beta So Jaa Nahin To Gabbar Singh Aaa Jaya Ga,”
“Kitne Aadmi They Re Kaalia,”
“Sarkar Maine Aap Ka Namak Khaya Hai--- Toh Aab Goli be Kha” OR
Jai asking Basanti “ Tumara Naam Kya Hai Basanti”
All this and many for dialogues made immortal by the Great Late Amjad Khan in Sholay.
The movie had Amitabh Bacchan the superstar of that time Dharmendra , Sanjeev Kumar Hema Malini And Jaya Bahaduri all good actors/actress in their own way and here was Amjad Khan totally newcomer to film industry pitted against the stalwarts of film industry, but in the end he made his role by his acting and dialogue delivery then one that would be remember for long long time to come.
The story was not new, but it was the dialogue and acting of main character of the film which made it to be all time classic on same line as Mughal-e-Azam and Deewaar.
I still like to see it during my free time and I just cant stop myself from having great time whenever the Soorma Bhopali comes on screen, it is just great and hilarious to see Asrani and Jagdeep in a comeo.
I don't think my recommending this film to anyone will help because most of the people must have seen this movie atleast once in his lifetime, but if there is anyone who has not seen this movie yet I would recommend them to have a look at this as soon as you get chance.
They don't make 'em like it anymore.
A Classic in true words..
