When it comes to Chinese, I blindly go to Rice Bowl. But sometimes and yes in the past when I was new to Bangalore, I used to frequent this place. However I do go there sometimes now.
Convenient
Located at one of the busiest places in Bangalore, Brigade Road, its a convenient place to be.
Its near the Rex Theatre and Nilgiris Cafe, Brigade Road.
Once upon a time it was a good joint. Some friends of mine still swear by it. Personally this place is an okay place. Would not go out of the way to go there.
If you are coming out of a movie or if you are just tired shopping and want to have Chinese without having to far from Brigade road, you could come to this place.
Red and Black
Well thats the colour that comes to my mind when I enter this place.
Its pretty dark inside. The bar is the only thing which stands out in terms of shine. :)
If you are looking for a quiet place to kootchie koo with your partner, this might be just might be suitable for you.
The music playing at the background is pleasant and you can sit at peace and have a good conversation with the people you are eating with.
Chinese chinese and more chinese
This is one of the places besides Rice Bowl, where you can get MOMOs. But you have to wait for it...... a long time !! And the result is not worth the wait. And if I am not mistaken they make the momos only on certain days... ha ha !!
The best dish of Shangrila is the Shangrila Special Soup The soup has gone down in terms of quantity but the quality is good. :) One bowl of soup would be enough for dinner.
I also like Roast Pork with Bamboo shoots. Its goes well with fried rice which is quite appetising. I prefer the rice to the noodles here. However you could go for Chicken Chop Suey if you are a noodle freak.
I would also recommend Chilli Pork as a starter if you are ordering some Vodka plus Lime Cordial.
Among soups I like Pork Meat Ball Soup or Chicken Clear Soup along with shangrila special soup.
Irritating sometimes.. but tolerable !!!
Service is kind of slow but if you have the time, you will not find any difference.
Price is okay high I guess !! ... like a meal for two would cost you about 200/- plus... with drinks it would cost you about 500/- plus. ( The drink being Vodka or Beer :) )
My thoughts
My advise is to go to this place with some time on your hands and with someone whom you love to spend time talking and drinking with. :)
If you are not that type who is not comfortable who likes to drink in a quiet ambience and not have a crowd all around you, this might be the place for you !!! ...
