I know that just reading the name of the series may make the eyebrows go up. But Sex and the City is one of the best TV series I have seen up till now. I would like to give a few details about it.
An original HBO series Sex and the City is based on a book by the same name written by Candace Bushnell. It started in 1998 and ended after 6 seasons in 2004.
It talks about four thirty something women friends who live in New York.
Carrie Bradshaw: Played by Sarah Jessica Parker is sex columnist who looks everywhere for material for her column. She is strong and independent but deep down wants to be taken care of.
Samantha Jones: Played by Kim Cattrall, is the ?I don?t care? gal. She is an outrageous Public Relations executive who doesn?t give a F (literally) about what people think about her. She uses men for sex and detests ?falling in love?
Charlotte: Played by Kristin York is the ?Dreamer?. She works in an art gallery and believes in finding true love and getting married. She obsessed with having babies
Miranda Hobbes: Played by Cynthia Nixon is the truly ?Independent? lawyer who has issues with being dependent on anyone.
I can almost see most male readers sighing (considering it a ?woman?s issue series?) and wanting to go away but wait a minute guys? The beauty of this series is that it has strong characters and deals with their major and silly issues but is hilarious all the same.
Through the six seasons you find the characters growing and maturing, learning to adapt and change their views and stand points as they move in life. Though mainly women living abroad would be able to completely associate with the dating games, safe sex, male problems etc issues; the series has a universal appeal as it talks about what women feel everywhere. And it manages to make all of that interesting not only to women but to men too. For all male readers this is a series for any guy who wonders ?How does a woman?s mind work??
According to me the most beautiful part of the series is the relationship between the four friends. All of them are absolutely different from each other, none of them is perfect and they rarely agree on anything but they accept each other as they are. They accept each others plus and minus points to be there for each other as and when required.
The series is a true tribute to friendship. I would suggest all my female MS friends DO NOT MISS IT!!! And my male MS friends come on guys be bold and try out something different for a change, you may not like it but it won?t be a waste of time.
