Ok guys, I'm back doing what I intended to do originally - hence the account starpluswatcher04. I joined MS intending to review soaps and serials which I watched regularly. When I joined back then, it was all I did. My parents were with me here at the time and they set up the digital for me. When they left, it was all I did - Watch Star Plus.
I used to watch everything - from KTH to KSBKBT. I dunno why, because even I could see that the plots were stale and the characters at times lame. However, maybe it was because it was the closest I could get to India....the thought of them all crowding around the TV, watching something dedicatedly, made me do the same here.
You know, its a thing of Ekta Kapoor serials. They all start of fine, even interesting and you dedicatedly watch for the first month. However, after that the plot starts to deteriorate and you lose interest. I am going to comment on a few of her serials, just to give you an idea of what I mean - by the way, the plots may be old, but I can only review from what they've shown in UK.

Kavyanjali

This is probably the only soap I watch dedicatedly now. It had a good start - ghosts, mentality, lovers - and after Kavya and Anjali got married I watched it more. In my eyes, they were a perfect married couple. However, now Ekta has gone way over the top. God knows whats going through her mind. She's adding loads of excess characters and is just booorrrinng us to death. Please, Ekta, stop, otherwise you'll lose your only dedicated viewer as well!
Acting: The acting in this serial is done really well. The extremely good looking Eijaaz Khan shines in his role of the dedicated, then suspicious husband. Also, Natassha pleases as well in the role of the strong, independant woman. The chemistry they share is amazing. Amrita Singh makes a powerful comeback and pleases in her negative role. Hiten Tejwani and Nandini Singh should just leave!

Ok, its about time i've said this - EKTA STOP! THIS SERIAL SHOULD HAVE FINISHED YEARS AGO! For gods sake, I have never seen anything worse. Savita and Tulsi are grandmothers and great grandmothers, but hell, they refuse to look older. Let me just outline Ekta's rules to keep this serial going:
*1. Must introduce a new son every fortnight
Must make someone have an affair every month
Must make the parivaar extend by 5 people each week
Must kill someone every week
Must make Tulsi seem unbearable by making her shriek and frown and scowl.*
Acting: We all love Sudha Shivpuri as Ba. Through the ages, she is the only one who hasn't become annoying. Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan deserve credit as Nandini and Karan. Special acting mentions go out to Shilpa Saklani as Ganga and Mihir ? as Gautam.

Kahin To Hoga

Oh the days when I watched it regularly. Now I just can't be bothered. Ekta has gone from making this the story of 5 sisters and a love triangle to a murderous, hate family. Funny, the theme started of based on 5 sisters; dunno where its gone now though.
Acting: The key to my heart, Rajeev Khandelwal shines throughout the serial as the bitter, then soft Sujal. Aamna Sheriff is no less as Kashish. Shabbir Ahluwalia plays Rishi with ease, while Chetanya Choudhary plays Akshat really well.

Kasautii Zindagi Kay

I loved this soap at the beginning, when it started in the UK. It was about Anurag and Prerna and their love story. Of course, Ektaa had to spoil it. Now, 10 years later (or something like that), we see Anurag married to Aparna, and Prerna married to Bajaj, lots of kids, pregnancies and junk like that. I've stopped watchin it now unless i'm really desperately bored.
Acting: The acting of Cezanne Khan as Anurag started of really well, however, with the plot it seems to have deteriorated. Shweta Tiwari is nice as Prerna. Ronit Roy is brilliant as Bajaj, as is Komolika played by Urvashi Dholakia.

Oh, please dont make me write on this serial! Its gone from worse to worse. Every week a new character comes and changes the plot. It hurts my head! Seriously, there are more characters than numbers today!
Acting: Special mentions go to Tina Parekh who has always shone as Shruthi. Kiran Karmarkar and Ali Asghar are good as Kamal and Om. Saakshi Tanwar is just about bearable as Parvati and the new guy who plays Sameer is pretty good looking!
Ok, i've only reviewed 5 of Ektaa's many ''K'' serials. They all start of good, and become worse...

Just a last word before I go. I know many people, including myself complain about her serials. However, think logically. There's gotta be a reason why they are so big. Its people like us who make them so big. We are the viewers. So, before dissing them, just like I have done, just give a thought why KSBKBT or KZK has lasted so long, compared to small runs of things like Saara Akash and Jeet

One thing I like particularly is the songs Ekta uses in her serials - Suna Suna in Kesar, Kya Pyar Karoge Mujhse? in Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Thoda Sa Pyar in Kahin To Hoga.
I have to say, i've fallen in love with the Kavyanjali title track -
woh mile the......yun mile the.....
dekhne bas unhe.....waqt bhi ruk gaya....
I think that really is a beautiful song!
