This book is a successor to the Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi. It is the first book to be released in the Ram Chandra series. Pre-ordered this book from Amazon India. Received it a day after its launch with a free gift(metallic bookmark). But was disappointed as the next day after launch, the price of the book was slashed by Rs. 60(without metallic bookmark) which means that I paid for the gift which I thought was for free. The publisher, "Westland" have cut corners with the quality of the book. The pages are cheap with poorly cut corners like a pirated book. Even the coverpage is of low quality and will not last too long in your book collection.
I would suggest anyone to not dive into this series unless you have followed through the Shiva Trilogy. The author has tried to maintain his original style of writing but draws flak for being to repetitive and predictable. He has tried to link the stories with his previous works which is not warranted most of the time. The book preaches about an ideal society and the difference of governance between a man and a woman making its philisophy redundant.
The book fails to grip the reader like his previous work. This may be due to the fact that Ramayan is a well-told saga compared to the life of Lord Shiva. People who were hooked to Shiva trilogy because of the presentation of Shiva's character. Hence, the author is unable to wow the audience with any twist or turns in this first release.
There are a few books which leave you with a sense of connection with the characters. Sadly, this isn't one of them. Only go for it if you are an Amish fan otherwise it is a miss. Kindly rate my review and leave your comments. Cheers!
