Savoury Restaurant - Delicious Arabic Food

We all have our separate experiences when it comes to food & fortunately we like different kinds of food. Sometimes I am anxious about trying a new food, especially when it comes to the Arabic food. It's different, has ingredients that are very different from the Indian or Chinese food. Also there are many benefits to Arabic food.    Generally we don’t find a lot of fat like butter & lard in Arabian cooking or food preparation. Many recipes use only olive oil, and in very small quantities. Very few dishes are fried & most of the foods are grilled and baked.

About The Restaurant

Choosing a great restaurant in Bangalore doesn't need to be a challenge. There are many popular restaurants in the garden city. One of the best Arabian food restaurants in the town is Savoury, located near mosque road in Frazer town. Savoury is a chain of restaurants that is on a rapid expansion mode across the city. They have been able to maintain standards of food, service and ambiance across their branches in Bangalore. My visits have mostly been to the Frazer town restaurant. My experience at Savoury Restaurant has been good each of these times, both during lunch and dinner.

FOOD – 4/5

They have a wide variety of tasty dishes that make me to eat more than I can. They have everything from hummous, shwarma, kebabs, grilled seafood, etc. They also offer international dishes on their traditional menu, but the best is to stick to the Arabic authentic food. They also keep on introducing new items in the menu.Right from the soups, starters, grills and desserts, the food is typically Arabian, heavy on wheat, barley and yoghurt, delicately cooked in spices, in different combinations of meat and vegetables. It’s better to start with a hot starter dishes & move on to the popular main course for which Arabic cuisine is known. The chicken kebabs are a real delicacy and they are full of aromatic spices, curd & minimal amount of oil. They have a distinction of making kebabs cooked on slow fire, and hence it retains much of its nutritional value and flavor. There are few varieties of biriyanis with traditional tastes, the biryani served here comes with less oil and is less heavy & not very spicy either. Coming on to desserts, they are prepared using lots of nuts & dry fruits making them rich    in fiber & micronutrients. There’s a whole lot options to choose from ice creams, toppings like nuts and sauces, pastries, Indian desserts like gulab jamoon, Carrot Halwa, phirni etc.

Must Try Food – 5/5

The must try food here is Al Faham Dajaj ( Barbequed Chicken marinated with traditional Arabian spices) Grilled Prawns, Chicken Shawermas & Falafel ( looks like cutlet, deep fried ball or patty made from ground chickpeas & fava beans) in desserts, Royal Temptation & Sizzling browny should not be missed.

Ambience – 3/5

To me, ambiance is important in a restaurant experience but luxury surroundings are low on the list because they are reflected in the restaurant's prices.    In other words, we have to pay for all of these amenities. Nothing great about the restaurant if you look at the interiors, the ambience is good, making it suitable for a family & friends. The restaurant is centrally located on mosque road. It is more spacious and the ambience does not disappoint.    There is a small space for car parking & two wheelers in front of the restaurant. Valet parking services are not available.

Service - 4/5

The service is efficient & quick but sometimes in rush hours they slow down. Do tell them if it's a birthday, anniversary, or any other occasion they'll try to make it special. I recommend making a table reservation before visiting this place and probably a day in advance of planning for a weekend. The restaurant also has parcel facilities; one can order food in a parcel and enjoy the Arabian food in the comforts of their home or office with friends or family.

Price – 4/5

It’s a budget restaurant. The Prices are extremely reasonable & suit every pocket. Most of the dishes are reasonably priced from Rs 250 to Rs 450, Absolute value for the money. Budget conscious food lovers can take advantage of the reasonable prices.

Overall for those who have a fetish for authentic Arabian food this place is a must-visit. Looking at a restaurant in terms of menu selection, location, good quality, great quantity & affordable prices, Savoury Restaurant gets decent marks all around.
