The most consistent player in indian team and arguably the best lfethander in the world.a true team man..the recently concluded one day sereies in south africa has brought out the best from the indian skipper..he just gave a brilliant performance against the SOUTH AFRICANS..actually these pitches are supposed to be bowler friendly and nightmare for batsmen..but he just blasted the hell out of the bowlers..i think he hit the highest number of sixes in the series.
but I can't believe that he was being criticised for not delivering in the final..u really can't expect a single person to perform in every mach..after all this is a team game..on his day in the field he can destroy any bowler in the world cricket..he was susceptible to fast bowling but he made subtle changes in his batting technique..he is regarded as the king of off side..u can't find a persn placing a ball better than sourav.
His fielding may not be the best in the indian team but then every player has his own drawbacks....whether it be his trade mark coverdrive or a loft over long on he is stylish in what ever he does..and above all his captaincy is his best part of his game..he is the best captain india has ever had..he is very aggressive and plays the mind game which cricket is all about..it is not at all that easy to captain the indian side..it may have stars like tendulkar and dravid..but u can not expect them to perform in evry match..it is here where the problem lies for india..if sourav, rahul or sachin do not perform then india will just crumble under pressure..the younsters in the team have to be groomed and have to be backed..this is what ganguly has just done ..he gives the youngsters a fair chance and this is what captaincy is all about..
Sourav though may be a arrogant on the field and has been ridiculed for his on field behaviour
he is by far the best leader india has ever had..three cheers to the prince of calcuuta..
