Ramgopal Verma has always given us good films and Sarkar is no exception. People who love reality will love this film, and I’m one of those people. And with stars like the Big B and chote B in it, the opening will be cent percent. But does the movie live up to expectations? Yes it does.
Ramgopal Verma always has scenes that remains with you after the movie is done. Scenes like Sarkar's men bashing the rapist, Vishnu's introduction in the studio, the Rashid-Sarkar confrontation and Vishnu on the dinner table, are not only superbly done, however, they send a spine chill through your body. You can say that the first half is done well.
However, the second half moves a slightly slower pace that the second half, however, it’s also done well. Scenes like Vishnu trying to eliminate his father Sarkar or the climax, gives you goose bumps. Ramgopal Verma always direct his movie with amazing ease, that is why he is hailed as one of India’s greatest director, and Sarkar is no exception. The background score is excellent, while the cinematography and dialogues are fantastic.
Sarkar, without doubt belongs to the Big B. I’m sorry to say this; SRK can never accomplish what the Big B has already done. Look at it, at the age of 62, and doing a role like this is remarkable. Big B has done so many diverse roles in the past, you can add Sarkar to the list. Big B looks like he is enjoying his prime days and he is in complete form this time, Big B rocks with this performance. People who thought Big B has lost it, will have to learn to stop barking and know the truth, no one is better than the Big B. Big B, you are the man.
Abhishek Bachchan, wow, what a performance. Although, he didn’t do much in the first half, the second half he rocks. His character relies on facial expression and less dialogue, and hamara chote B handles very well. The climax rocked and Abhishek definitely stole it from everyone. I got to admit, he did manage to steal one scene from his dad, and that was the scene where he told his dad that he had killed his brother. Superbly done.
KK is amazing. It’s a shame this guy doesn’t get that much in Bollywood because this guy has talent. He truly handles his part superbly. Supporting are great, while Tanisha and Katrina are alright in their small roles.
Overall, Sarkar is worth seeing. One for Ramgopal Verma direction, and for the performances. The movie took an excellent, and it shows why.
9/10 (A+) Well Done!
