The story line is the usual Bollywood masala – the boy joins the police to avenge the death of his brother, there is a girl virtually chasing him all around, there is the villain who is a good-guy in his other life. But give this formula-for-flop to ad-film director turned film director, John Mathew Matthan – voila !!! - the magic is on the big screen. Amir Khan is the no-nonsense ACP Rathode, Nasiruddin Shah is the bad-guy-in-the-garb-of-good. The treatment of the subject is so different that every sequence in the movie captivates the audience – ACP Rathode’s conversation with (Mukesh Rishi) Inspector Salim, veerappanisque character of the terrorist, Sonali’s “Ajay, Don’t Mind” sequences, Nasiruddin Shah’s villain Gulfam Hassan, the Mirchi Seth, etc. – all are still in my memory even though I saw the movie almost a year ago. There is a certain Hollywood quality to the whole film.

The sound track of the movie is fabulous. “Hoshwalon ko Khaber” turned me into a Ghazal fan and Jagjith Singh fan – Now I am an almost full-time ghazal listener. The other music scores are worth-remembering.
