Television is a medium of entertainment which permits millions of people to listen to the same joke at the same time, and yet remain lonesome. Television:** Television is a widely used telecommunication system for broadcasting and receiving moving pictures and sound over a distance.” The word is derived from mixed Latin and Greek roots, meaning "far sight": Greek tele, far, and Latin vision, sight. It is widely known as TV.
Television for Me: Television is commercially used from late 1930s but for me the journey started in late 1980s when Ramayana was coming on Doordarshan. Ramayana and Mahabharata were two milestones in Indian Television industry. They boosted the sale of TVs in India. I still remember the first movie I had watched on my TV set. It was “Hariyali aur Rasta” though I don’t remember the story of this movie.
Sansui: The birth of Sansui resembles the birth of India. Yes, Sansui was born in 1947. It was born in Tokyo Japan. It is one of the pioneers in the field of television and entertainment industry. It has won company of the year awards by Japanese government 8 times in a row. It shows the supremacy of this brand. Sansui has won hearts and minds of millions of people in above 100 countries.
Sansui in India: Sansui started its operation in India with the strength of just 4 people. It was started in Pune in Oct’1997. Now it has more than 1600 people working in India with annual turnover of more than Rs. 1000 Crores.
Advertisement of Sansui: You must have heard about India’s number 1 selling Japanese TV brand. Yes, this is the focus of Sansui’s all TV advertisements in India. Please note that it is not the number 1 selling TV in India and it is also not the number 1 Japanese brand in India but it is the number 1, “Japanese selling”, “TV brand”, in India. I hope the statistics will be clear to you now.
Background: Around one year back when I was settling down in Kolkata the very first things I thought to buy was a TV. I went to the market and started searching for a good TV which could fit under my budget of below 10K. I saw few TVs of different brands like Onida, Samsung, LG and Philips but nothing was looking great to me. I moved to another shop and there I saw a black color TV. It was looking awesome and the contrast of pictures was coming beautifully. I was already captivated by the look of this TV.
Features: After look it was the time for features. I was happy with the picture quality. I checked it on different channels, even on Doordarshan (As people say it has got worst quality). I checked the sound quality and I was happy with that also. I read the booklet and there were lots of features mentioned like Sleep Timer, Clock, On Timer, Off Timer, Alarm, Child lock, TV Lock, Zoom, Automatic Volume Leveler, Favorite Channel On / Off, Selectable Picture – 10 Modes n lots more.
Technical Specification:I don’t understand all the technical details but below are some specifications which I got with the TV. I have given it here for those who understand this technicality.
Picture Tube: 54 cms, True Flat Tube
*Power Source: 110 ~ 270V. AC, 50/60 Hz
*Power Consumption: 130 Watts (Approx)
AVR Range**: 110V – 270 V. 50 Hz. AC
*Audio Output (PMPO): 850 W
*Antenna Input: 75 Ohms unbalanced
My Experiences: I’m using this TV from last one year and I never found any problem with it. Picture quality is one of the best I have ever seen. Sound is just awesome. It feels like I’m sitting in some Dolby theater. Features which I normally use are sleep timer and clock. I don’t use other features frequently so I won’t be able to talk about them in details. I got warranty also but I have never used it till date. I hope I won’t need this in future also.
Look: Look of this TV was my first love and it still continues. The entire front part is black with just on power switch below the screen. Just above the power switch there’s an icon of Sansui. This white color icon looks great with the combination of black background. Black color is also good to provide good contrast to screen. The power switch of this TV is in front and other controls are in side so it improves the look. Other controls we don’t quite use so it’s an intelligent thinking to put them on side.
Recommendation: When we get a product which exceeds our expectations we really feel elated. This is what I got from my Sansui. I’m delighted with this and hence I would like to recommend this to others.
