Good afternoon to all in the Sankara Eye Hospital Optical Shop.
This comes to clarify a small misunderstanding regarding the delivery of my spectacles.
The spectacles were ordered on the 17th December 2020, through Prem, who assured me that it would be couriered and delivered to my home on Monday the 21st.
21st afternoon I received a call from DTDC asking me to collect the spectacles from their office. When they were told that they were supposed to deliver the package to my home they blatantly refused and told me to speak to the hospital about it, which I did.
Prem then phoned DTDC and told me that the spectacles would be delivered on the 22nd. When nothing happened, I called Prem again and he spoke with the Manager who assured him that it would be delivered. When there was no delivery that day I reported the matter to the PR Manager who reassured me that the spectacles would be delivered to my home.
I wish to state here that Prem was NOT responsible for the non-delivery of the spectacles. He did his best for the delivery to happen.
DTDC took payment for the delivery and then refused to make the home delivery. This was gross negligence and unethical, for a so-called reputed large Courier service Company. They knew the address. They registered the package and took the payment for the delivery cost and then did not deliver. Their office is well within 5 km from my home. They know exactly where the layout complex is and it was their responsibility to make the delivery after having been paid for the service.
I am 77+ years old. I do not have a driver. Did DTDC expect me to go to their office and collect the package?
I would request the Hospital to take up this matter with DTDC and also demand a refund from them for the undelivered package so that this does not happen to another person.
Eventually, Franklin, also from the Optical shop, had to make a trip to the DTDC Office and collect the package which he very kindly delivered to me at my home yesterday, 23rd afternoon.
He was also surprised that DTDC did not make the delivery as their office is not at all far from my home.
Thank you Prem and Franklin for all your help in this regard and I apologise for having put both of you through so much trouble all because of an irresponsible and, from my experience, useless Courier service.
I cannot expect better service from the staff of Sankara Eye Hospital - they are always polite, very helpful, and always do their best, which has been my experience with them, pre and post-surgery.
All the very best to all for a joyous festive season and A VERY HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR 2021.
Take care and God Bless!
