As of Jan 2006, Samsung X100 is no longer in production.
I purchased Samsung X100 in Aug 2005 for Rs. 4200.
The phone is great to use and looks far better than its Nokia contemporaries.
It does not look and feel like cheap plastic but rather has the colour and design which makes it look and feel far superior.
The phone has all regular features including the ability to store upto 5 numbers (including email add) for each entry.
The screen is the most attractive and colourful feature and has 4 optional colour schemes.
The phone has 9MB of memory for melodies, images and data, which is the largest for any phone available from any other company, in its class. Indeed it has more memory than all the combined memory of all Samsung & Nokia phones in the same price range.
Its National Geographic Animated Wallpapers (5) are beautiful.
You have the option of giving separate ringtones and animated icons for all your callers.
It has a service light with 3 colors (adjustable) which blinks every 5 seconds to find the phone in the dark. The service light also blinks rhythmically with incoming calls giving the phone a very colorfull look.
Its SMS writing features are great and you have several options.
Its backlight is made up of 4 colours (with adjustable time periods) with a prominent central white round button for browsing marked with an i. Its backlight is 20% less than Nokia models.
All buttons are contoured properly and functional.
The ringtone speaker is located at the back of the phone and does not affect the ringtone volume in any way. Ringtone Volume is 20% less as compared to Nokia.
Hearing volume is the same as Nokia models and is adjustable (beautiful brick graph as volume indicator) through a smart side placed button.

If you are the kind of person who likes simplicity without frilly features like camera & radio but demand innovation and useful & attractive features at an affordable cost, then the Samsung X100 phone is more than worth its price.
