FOR CUSTOMER REVIEW BEFORE PURCHASING A SAMSUNG ‘RT’ REFRIGERATOR

I write this note to bring awareness to prospective Samsung customers who make a naive assumption that because a company is popular their products must be good. I have been one of the many customers of Samsung who regret having taken this decision as their product with" A MANUFACTURING DEFECT" was deceitfully sold to us. Our Samsung Refrigerator, model RT50H5809SL, has been having water leakage since the last 3 years, due to THIS MANUFACTURING DEFECT. We were completely unaware until the Samsung service centre technicians brought it to our notice.

The company call centre prolonged the matter by giving online solutions, telling us to switch off the refrigerator for 12 hours and it will be okay. The water leakage problem used to be fine for a while but never stopped. The Samsung call centre ensured that we only followed their instructions and never allowed us to go further to the service team. Even when the fridge door gasket was coming off due to the water seepage, the call centre gave a solution to put powder and said that it happens during monsoons.

When the freezer stopped working this year, the call centre again tried their best to give the same solutions. I told them I already finished trying all their solutions and that they have to send their technician.

The technician who visited said it was a gas leakage. Next day another technician filled the gas but the freezer wasn’t working well and later they stated it was an internal gas leakage for which taking it to the Samsung workshop was the only option. We also asked them to rectify the water problem. We were then informed by a couple of the service centre technicians that this RT refrigerator model water leakage issue will never get solved as it’s an INTERNAL LEAKAGE ISSUE (A MANUFACTURING DEFECT). It was absolutely shocking to hear that. We were never made aware it was a manufacturing defect. Besides, we never wanted to send the refrigerator to the workshop as without shifting residence, how can an internal gas leak occur and sending it to the workshop would involve scratches, dents and more damages. But since there was no option, we informed the Samsung CEO Audit person when he called that they should get both the internal gas leakage and water leakage problem resolved.

The service centre did major modifications. The freezer is freezing excessively. The lower portion at the inner back of the fridge gets frozen due to which the water leakage gets hidden but only for a fortnight and then the water seepage starts again.

The CEO office finally closed the matter by a phone call stating they will not be able to rectify their MANUFACTURING DEFECT and we will always have to continue switching off the refrigerator for 24 hours and clean it entirely every 15 days for the rest of the life of the refrigerator. He also lied during the call that this water leakage problem happened only after the refrigerator was returned after rectification of internal gas leakage. Besides, though they stated they would give a reply to our emails, they NOW inform us that they WON'T REVERT IN WRITING. We sent them few more emails but they never reverted.

BEWARE customers, the entire Samsung team, consisting of Customer call centre, Service centre, those who attend CEO emails work hand-in-glove to con customers, instead of solving their problems. It's a sad reality that we look for transparency from such corporations whose sole aim is to deceitfully increase their profit margins and pay absolutely no attention once their products are sold. Beware of purchasing Samsung Refrigerators, especially the RT models, which should be recalled from the market.
