I bought Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 inch in June 2013 from UK. I brought it back to India hoping that it would work fine. However, my luck was bad and it started flickering within few days of purchase. Unfortunately, problem started showing up just before I was flying back to India.
Later, I realized that I shouldn't have bought a Samsung mobile product at the first place. I can see plenty of problems reported/posted in the internet forums with new Samsung products. Samsung doesn't offer have international warranty.
You mustn't buy a product overseas when you know that the product is prone to manufacturing defects and you are not going to get warranty service in your home country.
I contacted service center as well as CEO's desk in India but I am unable to avail warranty for tablet just because it was purchased outside. If you are planning to gift such items to anyone then I recommend you to buy it locally.
It's my personal experience that a new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet became nearly unusable within few days of purchase. I won't recommend anyone to buy Samsung mobile products because I see plenty of similar complaints faced by several others.
Their service centers charge hefty amounts for repairs. They asked me Rs. 8000/- for replacing the screen where as purchase price of the tablet is just 249 pounds or Rs. 22000/- at that time.
Samsung mobile devices have very bad reputation so what would you do if your device stops working soon after warranty is over?
You are bound to pay huge amount for repairs or dump your device for a new one. I would recommend you to rather choose a more reliable product from a different manufacturer.
I have another Samsung Galaxy Advance S mobile phone. This phone too hangs from time to time and I have to hard reset. I have lost faith in Samsung mobile (Phone and tablet) devices.
