I purchased a Samsung galaxy S4 on June 2013, and it is giving too many issues since then. I visited the service center. On inspection of the phone, the attendant told me the following(i) that it would cost Rs. 2, 300 for replacement of charging point(ii) that my screen is damaged(kindly note that my screen is working fine, and I have no issues with that), and would require Rs. 7, 000 - 8, 000 for replacement(iii) That he would not take the complaint for charging point alone. In other words, he told me that the real issue would not be attended unless I agree to purchase the new screen from him.
This is the second instance of problem caused by samsung service center. Last time, another had refused to serve the warranty on the same excuse(that he would take the request of replacement of my battery, only if I agree to pay an additional amount for screen replacement). I had to send a court notice to the service center to get the warranty.
The phone comes with attractive configuration and features, but there were too many problems with it. I have seen several high end multimedia phones of Nokia, LG, HTC etc., but battery backup is worst in samsung handsets. Also, the battery gave up within 4-5 months of purchase, and charging point problem came up in less than an year. Even Chinese handsets worth Rs. 10, 000 - 12, 000 are much better in both configuration and hardware quality(absence of warranty doesn't matter since Samsung warranty is also useless). After paying Rs. 40000, the customers expect something much better than a mobile phone which does not last for even one year plus terrible quality of after sales service.
