You Better Have One Samsung Galaxy S3 :). Review on Samsung Galaxy S3

I have been using Samsung Galaxy S3 from one month. It had ICS when I bought it. These reviews are after the JB update. I read reviews across many websites, seeing those negative reviews I was confused whether to for this smartie or not. And I made my mind finally. And I am loving my SGS3….

1. Resolution

Resolution of 720 x 1280 Pixels is just awesome. I bet you love watching videos on this SUPER AMOLED HD screen.

1. Screen

In my views, for smart phones 4 inch screen (which most of the smart phones have) looks bit small especially for those people who love to play games and watch videos & 5.6 inch (Note 2) looks very big (cant even keep it in my jeans pocket)

So 4.8 inch screen which SGS3 has is the perfect one.

1. Battery

Well this is the area where most Indian mobile users will be looking seriously ?

Guys, If you were using a basic handset all the time and suddenly you go for SGS3 then you will get disappointed for sure. You used to get 2 – 3 days of battery life in your basic mobile and now even if SGS3 is giving you 18 hrs of battery life, you will start shouting battery drains… sucks… blah blah blah

Coming to the battery life of SGS3…

It depends on how much you use your mobile. It’s actually that big HD screen that consumes more battery 45% approximately. Below are the approximate statistics after the JB update.

Case 1) Heavy Usage

Phone Calls: 1hr

Gaming: 1hr

Video Playback: 2hr

Music & FM: 2hrs

Other Activities: 1hr

Battery Life: 9 – 12 hrs with screen on for 3 – 4 hrs.

Case 2) Moderate Usage

Phone Calls: 30 – 45mins

Gaming: 1hr

Video Playback: 30 mins

Music & FM: 3-4 hrs

Other Activities: 30 mins

Battery Life: 12 -14hrs with screen on for 2 – 3 hrs.

Case 3) Only Calls and Texts and Music

Phone Calls: 2hrs

Gaming: No

Video Playback: No

Music & FM: 4 hrs

Other Activities: 1hr

Battery Life: 17 - 20hrs with screen on for 2 – 3 hrs.

On stand by mode you will get about 36hrs.

I have observed when I go to bed at 11PM my battery was at 41% when I woke up at 7AM it was still at 36%.

All the above stats are with JellyBean in my SGS3. While I was using ICS battery performance was poorer than JB. It has actually improved with JB update by 25 – 30%.

1. Build Quality

Personally I did not like the plastic body. The back panel is very delicate when you take it out of the mobile. But as long its on mobile you don’t feel that delicateness.

But I don’t care about the build when compared with the other features which SGS3 has got ?

1. Price

34000 – 35000 is not a problem at all. All other phones like Xperia Ion, HTC OneX, LG Optimus are in the same range.

1. Camera

It has 8MP front camera which is same as SGS2 but has lot more and better features. In one line “You will not be disappointed with the camera”. The picture quality and resolution is just super.

1.9MP front camera looks pretty too.

1. Graphics

Graphics is same as that of SGS2. But the QudCore makes it so easy and smooth in SGS3.

I tried playing Temple Run game on SGS2 and SGS3. Tell you what! Graphics in SGS3 does make lot of difference.

Playing Cricket World Cup and Real Football on SGS3 is just awesome ?

1. Other Features

SGS3 has got tons of smart features.

1) The S Voice is pretty cool app. Unlike Siri in iPhone, S Voice recognizes Indian accent very easily. You can Set Alarm, Create task / appointment, you can call a person (Just say CALL PRAFUL), you can text a contact (TEXT PRAFUL WHERE ARE YOU?)…. So many other features.

2) Direct Call

3) Smart Stay (screen backlight wont go off as long as you are looking into screen)

4) Voice Control for Apps like Camera, Music Player and Radio. With this you can actually take snaps with your voice. If you say CAPTURE it will take the pic. You can control volume, play next, previous, pause/play with voice commands.

Cant explain all the features here. I may have to write a book on that!

1. Final Words:

Every mobile has got its Pros and Cons. It doesn’t mean I/we should not be buying any smart phone. You have to compromise for those minor cons.

Well, I am very much in love with my SGS3. I bet you will too fall in love with it when you buy it. JUST GO FOR IT !!!
