I read about the great king Prithviraj Chauhan in the history book for the first time when I was in school. At that tender age, I was mighty impressed with the grit, courage and valor that defined Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. He made quite an impression on my impressionable mind. Thereafter whenever I read about a Prince Charming coming to the rescue of a damsel in distress, all I could picture was this Valiant and Gallant King Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan. That was the glorious 90s, where disco music ruled the charts, and "Mere Paas Maa hai" boomed from many a radio station.

Fast forward to the year 2022, came a Movie made on this great King who had left an indelible imprint on my mind, even after all these years, left me in shock and in disgust at the mockery of this great king. I remember the serial Chanakya by Chandra Prakash Dwivedi and expected to watch movie made of that caliber, was I let down.Yes.BIG TIME.

The movie to say the least was overhyped, and the lead actor Mr. Akshay Kumar seems to have finally lost his marbles. When a movie is made on such a significant historical figure, the least the producer and director could have done was to cast someone who would not only carry the role on their shoulders, but do full justice. This Prithviraj played by Akshay, appeared like caricature of someone was a powerful and mighty king who stood his ground against the enemies of that century.

Akshay Kumar made a mockery of this great king would be the understatement of the year, as he went hammer and tongs to kill the character. His acting seemed to be continuation from Housefull or desi boys, nothing new.

Why are we so gung ho on casting actors who are in their 50s, yet refuse to age gracefully and move on to age appropriate roles instead of making a fool of themselves by romancing ladies old enough to be their daughter or niece?

Why cant casting directors cast the right actors? In my humble opinion, Ranveer Singh would have better played the part of Samrat Prithviraj and done justice too. Remember Bajirao from Bajirao Mastani and the menacing Khilji in Padmavat. Once in a while comes, an actor that leaves an imprint of their skills on the minds of the viewers, giving full cinematographic experience.

A movie which could have been brilliant, ended up being a mere caricature, inspite of the efforts to please the ruling political affiliate, sank in the tank.

Its time Akshay kumar and his ilk take a real good look at themselves in the mirror and ask Have I aged and past my prime, maybe then they would wake up to the reality when the mirror replies yes you have aged, now play your age.

I applaud rather the better halves of these 50+ actors, who seem to be better understand how to age gracefully and act their age.

Till another movie, adios amigos and amigas
