Another long overdue review. Well since I’m on holidays why not grab the chance to write all you could, though I did start a bit late into the holidays but that’s ok. Better late than never. I just had to have this album and see this movie as it contains two of my favorite people, Saif Ali Khan and Preity Zinta. I went through hell to have this album and them my hard drive had to go and die. But I’ve gotten back the whole album now and it took me three days to get it back. So without further ado here’s my review.
Salaam Namaste
Anyone in the mood for a beach party? Well, this song is exactly that, a beach party after a wedding. Kunal Ganjawala and Vasudhara Das team up in this smashing, super-hit dance number. They both sound very enthusiastic about their song. And they sound really well together; they make a cute singing couple. The last song I’d heard from these too was Salaame (Dhoom) (what’s with the salaams?). I prefer the title track to its remix, though the remix is a faster and more active-sounding called Salaam Namaste (the dhol mix), I just love the original.
My Dil Goes Mmmm
Well I didn’t see the video for this song ‘cause the movie conveniently froze for this entire song until the end. Sheesh! But I got the scopes from my friend who told me this song is entirely about you-know-what. This one is sung by Shaan and Gayatri Iyer. It toatally rocked the world, so many people loved it. I don’t blame them. Shaan sounds totally irresistibly sweet! You can hear the enthusiasm in both singers’ voices and even more so in Shaan’s. I mean, he’s totally into the song, and I must say he’s very well suited to sing for Saif.
There’s also an English Club Mix, sung by Shaan and Caralisa Monteiro and an instrumental version of this song. I love the instrumental; it’s a bit fast but I love it. Hell, I love all versions of this song.
Tu Jahan
The one and only Sonu Nigam song in the album. But he made up for his lack of songs by singing his heart out. Mahalaxmi Iyer accompanies him and ooohhh, they sound so cute together.
This song brings out the feelings of Nick in the movie, feelings he hadn’t realized he had for Ambar. Sweet, soothing song. Incidentally, this is the only song with purely Hindi https://lyrics. Trust them to give the purely Hindi song to Sonu Nigam.
What’s Goin’ On
This song totally cracked me up. There’s a totally bewildered Nick wondering what the hell is he doing out there in the middle of the night with Ambar who’s stricken for chocolate ice cream. Song is sung by Kunal Ganjawala and Sunidhi Chauhan. I don’t like Kunal Ganjawala much but I think he sounds absolutely wonderful in this album. Sunidhi sings absolutely well for Preity. I think her voice suits the atmosphere and character of Preity at the time of this song.
That’s all there is for this album. I’m off to write some more long overdue reviews.
