TV series with limited seasons and episodes was a new ball game for the Indian Market. Netflix started its first original Indian Series with Sacred Games Season 1. Inspired from the novel with the same title by Vikram Chandra, Sacred Games was a good choice by Netflix. The casting of the show is something remarkable. Who thought we can place Saif Ali Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Neeraj Kabi, Kalki Koechlin, Pankaj Tripathi and Netflixes own Favourite Radhika Apte in the same frame. These are just a few names from the show.Sacred Games on a visualistic level provides much more than just big names from theater and cinema. There's a beauty in the way all of the crime was conveyed wherein it was realistic and kept people wanting for more at the end of the season 1.The series is about a gangster from the ancient Mumbai, played by Nawazuddin and a police officer( Saif) who was deemed to be a failure in his professional and personal life. The internal dirty politics within the police department and the truth of the society that people chose to ignore was impeccably displayed.Every character was played by an actor who made it feel real.I am usually a fan of Rom-Coms, but this show kept me glued to my Netflix.Given the fact that we are all stuck at home for lock-down, this is a good time to watch this series, if you have been delaying it.I wish to not disclose the whole series in the review or else there will be no point in you watching it.
Plot: Based in early Mumbai, where gangsters ran the city. Sartaj, a police officer gets to know from a big time Gangster, Ganesh Gaitonde that there'll be a bomb blast in Mumbai in the next 25 days. The rest of the show takes you to places and events as described by Gaitonde. There's a lot of flashbacks so that we can understand the whole concept of it.
Acting: Each and every character has given their 100% . The selection of the actors were amazing. One person who really stood out for me was the one played by Kubbra Sait aka cuckoo. She played the role of a transgender very elegantly. She was one of the characters who stood out for me.
All in all, this crime series by Netflix was a great start to smaller shows in india.Stay Safe.
