S.W.A.T. - Special Weapons And Tactics

Picture this. Two police officers on an encounter mission, get orders to stay back but decide to go forward on their own, injure a hostage but save the day. Reprimanded by their chief , one of them blows up, punches the boss, jumps outta the force and then comes back to work against the force using all the knowledge he got in his training to pull off something bad. sounds like a total hindi movie ? sounded to me too. but guys its hollywood movie and that too an action movie.

If there was ever a movie which lacked a script, a motive, a storyline then this is it. If there was ever a movie which tried to get through on the basis of lotsa gizmos, cars, machinery, guns, all GI JOE style then this one takes the cake.

Anyways lets stop bashing up the movie and critically examine it.

Hollywood really knows how to make trailers. I mean their movie trailers are awesome. But the movies themselves turn out to be such damp squibs that its quite saddening. I saw the trailer for movie S.W.A.T. while watching Matrix Revolutions ( that was another dumb movie which I must tear apart but in another review ), at Wave Cinemas (now there is something good I can write bout but in another review again). And I must say that the trailers were really impressive. Okay the movie had Colin Farrel, the current hunk of the month from hollywood boulevard, and Samuel L. Jackson (whom I had seen in an impressive role earlier in ''Unbreakable'') and a small plethora of mean looking ''we mean business'' attitude guys and one girl mind u, so I decided when this movie comes up , will catch it surely. So thats what I did.

I was afraid that tickets won't be available as I was going to see it on a Saturday, but surprises of surprises I got the tickets and the theatre was half empty. Maybe that should have been a sign for me to get out while still there was a chance. But no once the ashvyn the great's royal bottom sits down on a cinema chair then it will get up only twice. Once to buy popcorn during the intermission and next when the movie is over and the value of the ticket fully used up.

So sit there I did. As I described in the begining , the movie starts like that and continues on. Colin Farell is not impressive. Samuel L. Jackson aint that great too.But speaking of great brings me to the villain of the story. Now this guy was so good that he deserves a separate paragraph of his own. So here goes.

The villain of the movie was played by Oliver Martinez and he plays the role of a mafia son with a spanish cum french accent which is so amazing. And this guy looks so hot. He has style, attitude, soft soken , long hair, piercing eyes (almost sounds like one of those amazing guys from the trashy Mills n Boons doesnt he ?) But he wasnt explored fully. I mean he had such shades inside him smouldering away but they were never followed upon. Saddening. And he was the script of the whole movie.

I mean the whole movie based upon transfering him from the LAPD SWAT headquarters to some prison in the desert. And the villain announces on TV that he would pay a hundred million dollars to whoever gets him outta there. Amazing plot no ?

Well after that the movie is all about people trying to rescue him and our very own darling SWAT team trying to prevent that.

PLUS POINTS OF THE MOVIE

As I already pointed out Oliver Martinez. Apart from that the cars, bikes and weapons showed as equipment of SWAT.

NEGATIVE POINTS OF THE MOVIE

Story, supposedly emotional scene between Colin Farel and his somewhat ex-girlfriend when she dumps him. They could have done away with that scene. No but I think that they wanted to show that he had a sentimental side too.

Apart from the girl Michelle Rodriguez who play the character of Chris Sanchez. She tries to play the role of a super woman cop but I think Angelina Jolie would have been a much better choice. She has attitude enough to kick a.s.s., but also feminine enough to lend that kind of a touch to the movie. I mean this Michelle female was nearly like a man except for those big projections on the front of her chest. And just to show that she is a woman too (if those mammary ducts u didnt notice ) at the end she takes out the photograph of someone small female kid (supposedly her daughter) and smiles at the movie. I mean guys we have more brains than that.

So anyways its a very sad movie which you can safely avoid. Now I am going onto the internet to find other movies of this guy Oliver Martinez and check them out. I am his fan he is my god.

cheers,

luvnhugs,

ashvyn
