Russia with disgraceful Actions. Review on Russia, General

I am a member of ISKCON. when I received this month's journal, I was shocked when I read about incidences in Russia against Hinduism and specially ISKCON members. I like to narrate all this here and have your views.

It was all started in year 1972 when Shreel Prabhupad had started his journey to Russia. At that time there were very few Indians were there in Russia. Few of them became his follower. Two were Brajesh and his friend Anetoli. Shreel Prabhupad had given them the knowledge and made them Follower. Anetoli was first Russian Hindu at that time. He started preaching Hinduism. Then started the wave of Hinduism in Russia. Many people had joined them. They were not doing anything but just Bhajan's and reading holy books. As other religions were banned there Russian government had informed KGB about that. The KGB started persecution campaigns against the first followers of ISKCON. For their belief, around hundred of devotees were thrown into prisons and labor camps. They underwent tremendous sufferings and tortures. But they had not given up their faith in Lord Krishna and His words in Bhagavad-Gita. Many people were harassed till they died.

This suffering was on till 1990-91 when Garbachov came into ruling. Then Russia has changed its stance and Hinduism and Hare Rama Hare Krishna movement had started openly. The Moscow government gave devotees a building which was unsuitable for inhabitation and commercial usage on rent. In a short time, devotees turned that building into the first Hindu temple in Russia.

In 2004 the Moscow government had given 3 acre of plot for building a new Temple against which they took the building back and destroyed it according to the city restructuring plan. Actually a big construction company which was carrying good relationship with Mayor or Moscow was interested in that land so Mayor had laid this restructuring plan. Now on that 3 acre plot all had started to build a new temple. Arindam Das who is a great designer and architect had made beautiful plan for that. When they put the plan for approval of authorities, Moscow government with other religious people were shocked. They felt that if this plan gets completed then it would be one of the most beautiful place in Russia. And that will again increase Hinduism in Russia. On the same a Leader or Russian orthodox church had written an open letter to Mayor where he has disgraced Hinduism and Lord Krishna. So Mayor had written letter to ISKCON and taken back the land which was allotted. Now Temple has been trashed and new land is not allotted.

India has always supported Russia, in good or bad times. And see what Russia has done. India allowed thousands of Churches & Mosques on its land. Can there not be even a single temple in Russia? Why is the orthodox Christian society so hateful towards the Indian / Hindu culture? Religious Intolerance in Russia is shocking and persecution of Hindus continues in the 21st century. Shame on Indian Govt that is doing nothing over this issue. But you sure can do your bit:
