Its as if the book called out to me. I was in Mocha having a coffee and got intrigued by the name on the cover ''The Rule of Four''. So I picked it up, read the first few pages was so engrossed that the Mocha guys had to request me to leave :) and I coudnt leave without the novel
And it was worth the buy.
The story revolves around Princeton roommates and an ancient text called the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili. It's a 15th-century book whose power and meaning have long been misunderstood, and is full of secrets, puzzles, and clues that are supposed to lead to a treasure buried in Rome.
The four roomates are involved in a thrilling and fast paced adventure which keeps yup the suspense and drama till the very end.
One thing that I really like about the book apart from the suspense is how the author describes the friendships and bonding of the four young men. It begins with the scene of four friends studying for exams... a typical hostel scene... and carries on. It takes you back on a memory trip to the good old college days.
The book is full of lines like ''Strange thing, time. It weighs most on those who have it least...'' Its not only a good story but written beautifully.
So if you like a backdrop of fifteenth-century Rome, an entertaining, illuminating tour of history full of suspense and thrill, a detailed and nuanced adventure story, complete with rich character development then go ahead for it!!!!
