We chose this place as a small reunion of sorts. It is easy to miss it from the outside as it is located on the top floor of a non descript building on the service rd near Bellandur junction. But once inside, you are transported to a different setting all together.
What strikes your first are the high ceilings. This place has 3 sections - the outermost seems to be lounge. Its done all in white. The central portion has a more arabic look with a shamiana kind of seating and sand flooring. The innermost part has a more medieval touch and a very bright red lighting which may or may not be to everyone's liking.
They have a distinct menu for Indian and Mediterranean food. Mediterranean menu is a misnomer - its a mix of Spanish, Italian and mid-Eastern. Decent choices though and very elaborate. Same with Indian.
The drinks menu has some nice cocktails.
We ordered a sangria pitcher. This concept is unique because unlike a pitcher, this is not served in a jug but you will get 5 glasses priced slightly lower than the price of 5 orders. We asked him to split that in 6 and he agreed. Was it less in quantity - will never know. We also ordered Mojitos which were nicely done and a vodka-basil-watermelon juice based cocktail which looked too pink to be a man's drink. But strong basil and fresh watermelon juice really took this drink to a new level.
We ordered a Jumbo non veg platter. For the cost, it was generously provided. All items in the platter were good esp. the lamb which was tender and juicy. We had chicken wings which were very different from what is served in American establishments. They had a herby marinade and no skin which gave it a very different flavour.
We also had variety of main courses which I cannot comment on. My dish was Chenjeh Kabab which was lamb kababs in a bed of rice. The lamb was very tender - I was later told it was lamb mice with walnut which gave it amazing flavour. It was well cooked. The saffron rice was simple but tasted heavenly albeit too much oil for my liking. Servings are small but good for one esp after a big round of drinks and starters.
Service was prompt though they sometimes got orders in weird sequence.
That day happened to be the 1 yr celebration of the restaurant. We stayed till the end when the staff was celebrating. We were offered cake and tequila shooters which was a nice way to close the evening.
This place is rather expensive. Cocktails are 300 and above. Most dishes cost 200 and upwards. Food and ambience is good but not sure if this place should charge such premium prices. Then it only becomes a special occasion place.
Something of an issue in Bangalore where good food comes at too high a price.
