In one sentence, Royal Sundaram healthshield is a total eye-wash. It is like a money - collecting agency, whose only purpose in life is to dupe honest people.
My personal experience with these people is regrettable. My father underwent a gall-bladder operation and the claimed amount was Rs39k approx. Now, they put down the claim stating it was "pre-existing" because that the USG report shows calculii of size more than 1 cm. They went on: such a calculii size could not have come in a short span of time.
I am no doctor myself. I consulted my treating doctor and he told me that in no medical book, there is any mention of any co-relation between calculii size and chronicity. At best, the chronicity can be considered "pathological" and not "clinical". Besides, if one does not have any prior symptom, then how does one know if there is a stone or a diamond inside?
I submitted my doctor's report to them, and then there is just a deafening silence. They do not provide and arguments against my treating doctor, nor they settle the claim. They also do not reply. Is not this a clear case of cheating?
I can go to consumer court/ombusdmen, but if it is settled before, then better.
But my advise to all my fellow-indians is to avoid this trap. Nowadays, citibank credit card division has tied up with them, and is offering healthshield through the cards. Clearly, their business is not doing well, and do not jump in.
