ROY - So Confusing Oh! BOY

#ROY: I am not very sure if I understood the film. It is like 2 lives running parallely intertwining and influencing each other. The story is from a Director’s perspective about a masked thief who has impacted his life when he was young.

Kabir Grewal, played by #ArjunRampal, is the director of successful films Guns I and Guns II. His movies are based on the characted called “ROY”, played by #RanbirKapoor,  who is an invincible and a perfect thief. His previous 2 films were  about ROY and his numerous famous robberies around the globe.

His quest of filming the 3rd installment of his previous film brings him to Malaysia where he meets another director Ayesha, played by #JacquelineFernandez,  who falls for him yet runs away from him coz she isn’t sure if he is “Kabir, the Film Director” or “ROY, the character he has etched in his mind and portrayed in his films.

#VikarmjitSingh, the actual director of ROY, has made a brave attempt and a huge risk in making this unusual film, however, I must say this attempt may backfire. In his bid to make a suspense film, he has made it too confusing with the real and reel characters of the movie over-lapping each other.

Arjun Rampal, as the arrogant and womanizing film director turned into responsible and sesitive film director, is fine and convinicing. He should play such intense roles instead of the quintessential romantic one.  Jacqueline Fernandez, like #KatrinaKaif, is a fantastic dancer, however, like Katrina Kaif even Jacqueline Fernandez cannot emote & act and definitely needs lessons in hindi diction. Ranbir Kapoor is evolving as an actor and is brilliant as the intense, serious, charming and intelligent ROY.

As far as the cinematography goes, it is done brilliantly. The beauty of the Malaysian islands has been captured show-cased exquisitely.  And last but not the least, the Songs. Beautiful, Foot-Tapping and Peppy numbers.

All in all I would say, it is an OK OK film only for a simple reason that its confusing and also it was stretched quite a bit. It could have been made into a 2hr film instead of 2 1/2hrs.

So till next time;

“Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron, Do Ghunt Nashe Ke Maaro, Ghum Tum Bhula To Saare Sansaar Ke”

Happy Valentine’s Day
