That Lady in Scarlet ....... Review on Romanov

"John was sitting outside his local pub one day, enjoying a quiet pint and generally feeling good about himself, when a nun suddenly appears at his table and starts decrying the evils of drink.

'You should be ashamed of yourself young man! Drinking is a Sin! Alcohol is the blood of the devil!'

Now John gets pretty annoyed about this, and goes on the offensive.

'How do you know this, Sister?'

'My Mother Superior told me so.'

'But have you ever had a drink yourself? How can you be sure that what you are saying is right?'

'Don't be ridiculous - of course I have never taken alcohol myself'

'Then let me buy you a drink - if you still believe afterwards that it is evil I will give up drink for life'

'How could I, a Nun, sit outside this public house drinking?!'

'I'll get the barman to put it in a teacup for you, then no one will ever know.'

The Nun reluctantly agrees, so John goes inside to the bar.

'Another pint for me, and a triple vodka on the rocks', then he lowers his voice and says to the barman'and could you put the vodka in a teacup?'

'Oh no! It's not that Nun again is it?'

My story is different. Whenever I go to wine shop; I always see that Lady in Scarlet looking at me. Being decent I somehow avoid her. But, last Sunday, I decided to look at her. No mischief intended………

Wow, she is all for ROMANOV Vodka, The Elixir of Life. In Eastern Europe(started in Poland), they used Vodka as medicine. Vodka Means ’’Little Water’’ some consider it as ’’Water of Life’’. You need an excuse to love it. No, I choose it to get a lemon or lime drink in this summer. I stopped taking beer after that Kingfisher Blue disaster. In fact, nowadays I do not get any taste in any Beer. I named it as Terrible KF Blue Syndrome.

First time I purchased Romanov and only reason is that poster. Otherwise I would have gone for some other brand. Very cheap, only 300 buck for a 750 ml bottle. I prefer to take it simple – I mean with lime cordial and club soda. People consume it with variety of cold drinks but I prefer it with lime cordial or simple lemon juice. *Many other simple combinations may be tried-

1. with plain chilled coconut water.

   
   




2. with chilled lemon tea in Tea Mug. Once offered by a friend and I liked it.

   
   




3. with cold coffee. Top-up with ice cream. No one will come to know what you are drinking. My special recipe for family party. Somewhat similar to the famous cocktail “White Russian”.

   
   




4. Almost all citrus juice like pineapple, orange, cranberry etc.

   
   

Romanov is marketed by UB Global an arm of UB group. UB claim a lot of quality check etc. May be doing it but I believe in what I get. Not there tall claim. UB hired Shilpa Shetty as brand ambassador of United Spirits’s Romanov Vodka in May 2006. In scarlet dress she looks gorgeous.

But, you know this colorless liquids are almost tasteless(at least to me) so good for cocktail only.

Recipe of My Vodka Sorbet:-For four glasses(person may be only One Mr. H…. or Mr. S……)

I do not prefer very sweet one so my sugar measurement is one teaspoon a glass.

Ingredients for four glasses:

a. Vodka of your choice and you decide the quantity. My preference is 30 ml per glass. Slow and steady wins the race

b. Four tea spoon sugar(some people make it very sweet. So may go up to 3/4 spoon per glass)

c. 400 ml water. Adjust water quantity; due to evaporation loss.

d. Grated lemon without skin – 2 medium size. Skin may be used for decoration.

e. Freshly squeezed lemon juice as per your taste. 2 table spoon per glass.

Preparation:

Make sugar syrup on a gas oven. Add the grated lemon in that. Stir until mixture comes to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Use fine strainer(I use clean cloth over the strainer) to get clear liquid. Chill it.

Take about 100 ml of above syrup and add lemon juice and 30 ml vodka to the strained syrup mixture. Stir well for proper mixing. An Ice cube or more to adjust volume. Some may prefer to add little club soda.

*Caution –

a. Never drink and drive. Forget the idea of One for The Road.

b. Take your time and drink slowly. One should know when to stop drinking

c. Take good amount of food…. Before, during the session and after.

d. Tomato is good anti-oxidant to get relief from hang-over

e. Some people get kick very fast by this Sorbet
