Whoever is looking for a genuine Interior Designer, please beware of these fraudsters. They basically operate by quoting less and giving you a handover date which a professional and genuine interior designer won’t commit to.
We people put our hard-earned money into buying a new home and try to pump in more funds to get the interiors done so that our dream home can become a reality but for some fraudsters, this becomes an opportunity to loot money and run away.
Kajal Halwai and Rohit Mishra(full name: Rohitkumar Laxmishankar Mishra) they are the two main masterminds behind this cunning plan. They will showcase themselves as they have a lot of experience and designed many homes and will try to show you many pictures of their work and will try to deceive you. They will boldly give you a handover date and present the whole plan with such confidence that you get into their trap. This is Kajal Halwai’s job to crack a deal with confidence. She comes from a corporate background, worked in Livspace, and uses her cunning skills to trap you.

In my case, I paid Livspace to get the Kitchen modular and wardrobes done from them but for the rest of the custom work like Painting, Electrical work, all Furniture, and the complete makeover of my place I was looking for a good interior designer.
Kajal Halwai committed to taking care of all custom work and here I made the biggest mistake of my life by handing over the work for my dream home. Let me put down some of the points below -
1. Kajal Halwai will present you with a 3D design(she did this by using Livspace resources as she was working there then). And her design ideas are very basic like a layman giving you the placement of various things(sofa, chairs, TV, etc.). Later on, we have to step in and provide her with design ideas.
2. In between she left Livspace and then she was supposed to give me a 3D design of her custom work. She kept pushing the dates for 3D by giving multiple reasons. The custom work started and she still kept pushing the dates for 3D. 3months passed on her custom work but she never shared the 3D’s.
3. I gave her all requirements multiple times and she will just say ‘Yes Sir I will take care of everything’. Finally, none of the work gets completed as per your expectations.
4. She will lie multiple times to you and confidently deny everything. Later on, I started putting discussions on call recordings and whenever she used to deny things and when I showed her proof then she only says Sorry. This happened n number of times.
5. Every time she will confidently give dates for the handover and on the final day, she will say sorry and request more days. In my case, she committed and pushed the handover dates thrice but still after 4 months(calculating from the date of the final handover) her work is incomplete and they ran away. Basically, they worked for 3 months and after this, they said that we can move in and gradually other work will carry on. We used to call them multiple times but they completely put my work on the lowest priority.
6. All of their custom work is very shoddy, with no finishing, and all faulty. They gave a commitment that the warranty of their work is for 3-5 years but they ran away in a couple of months(post we move in) and clearly denied doing any work.
7. She will create false stories and say all the wrong things to you and deny all work.
8. We have pictures of all their custom work and you can decide for yourself what kind of work they do.
