Chetan Bhagat, new Indian writer who (kind of) revolutionized Indian writing and made other MBA’s shift to writing. There were number of Indian writer who started writing on similar base.
He was an international investment banking career to give his full time to writing.
He has published 5 books –Five Point Someone, One Night at Call Centre, 3 Mistakes of My Life, 2 States and Revolution 2020.
I became fan of Chetan Bhagat’s writing on reading his book “Five point someone” and “One night at call centre”.
Thought his later two books were not up to the standards of his previous books, his new book fails to impress the audience. Revolution 2020, is “foremost a love story, in fact a love triangle, as both Gopal and Raghav love the same girl (Aarti). Corruption, particularly in the education sector, is the backdrop of the story.”
Revolution 2020 tells the story of childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who struggle to find success and love in Varanasi. Gopal and his friend Raghav are both preparing for engineering entrance exams, though neither really wants to become an engineer.
Raghav wants to be a journalist while Gopal simply wants to be rich, whatever the path may be. Raghav gets into Banaras Hindu University while Gopal fails to get an admission. His ailing father manages to find money to send him to take coaching classes in Kota. When he returns to Varanasi a year later, his childhood love Aarti is dating Raghav.
After finishing the course, Raghav gets a job in a newspaper while Gopal starts a private engineering college with the help of a corrupt MLA. Gopal gives in to the system, and Raghav fights it we just have to see who wins who looses.
My take on this book: Please ignore. Not worth wasting your time on this book. I guess Mr.Bhagat should seriously take a break and come up with something new. Fed up of his same stories where it’s all about love and fights related to it.
