Since this is my first review at MS, I better be brief and avoid be branded somnolent, soporific, resident of the land of endless siesta .... zzz .. whatever .. zzzzzz.
OK .. here's the deal -
am not sure about how the offer is gonna be once they the market lives out the current storm of price wars, but right now, if you go for the reliance pioneer scheme - there simply isnt anything like it.
Its especially useful for someone who already has a GSM mobile, and the thought of throwing it away in lieu of a CDMA plays big on his mind. But with this scheme you can give your old mobile to reliance, and you get between 4500 - 7500 rupees worth ISD talktime coupons. So if you have a cheap motorola t180, it sounds a good incentive.
Now for the nitty gritties :
If you go for the pioneer plan you pay 3000 bucks and 600 per month for the next 3 yrs. What u get is :
a.400 min of outgoing calls at 40 paise per minute.
b. free incoming
c. free black and white handset ( worth more than 10k !! )
d. handset exchange as mentioned above
e. long distance calls to some networks at local rates.
f. discount coupons from different merchants - its like having one of those privelege cards
g. short 15 second pulse rates
h. free access to lots of data applications e.g. news stocks streaminf video/audio . mp3 etc. ( a little birdie tells me reliance is planning to charge for these services later .. but for pio club members, its gonna be free)
h. High speed .. 144kbps .. always connected net access
and well . u gotta rush .. cuz by march they are gonna stop taking bookings. they are obviously pushing themselves as hard as they can in order to capture a reasonable market share . so I doubt whether the inaugural offer can ever be bettered in the future.
plus .. if u look at the infrastructure they have laid out in the last few yrs .. reliance is going to make this BIG. Makes sense hooking up rite now.
