I had taken a Reliance Broadband 4 Mbps 4 GB connection in October 2007. Before and during the installation everything was fine. Their "technical" folks came on time and did the installation on time. For the first few days(a week or so) the connection worked quite fine - I was getting average 1.5 Mbps, which is good for a 4 Mbps connection(you'll never get the peak value).
But then started the problems I had read/heard about Reliance Broadband and had feared. The connection started going down almost every week. I used to call their customer service number(which is not reachable most of the time), and they used to go through the same "ipconfig" drill very time and nothing used to come out of it. Every time I was given a complaint number and told that the "technical team" would call and visit my place. They called all right, but they never visited. Every time, some one used to call me and ask me to stay home for their visit. I stayed and stayed and stayed and no one ever came. But somehow, the connection used to be restored within 3-4 days.
Then on 28th December 2007, the connection went out again. And it is still down(today is 16th January 2008). Thats more than 15 days. In these 15 days, I have called(and tolerated) their call center more than 12 times. I have written to their email address(broadband@relianceada.com). I have given an online complaint. I have written to their nodal and appellate authority(Rcomnodalofficer.MH@relianceada.com, serviceassurancecell@relianceada.com). All I've got are a bunch of complaint numbers and no action!
I finally gave up and have applied for disconnection. For that too they gave me a complaint number:-) and said it will be done in 15 days! Wow.
Reliance Broadband's post-sales customer service sucks and sucks very hard. The call center guys are just a bunch of zombies reading out from a manual. I kept telling them that I am a qualified computer engineer and knew that the problem was either with the modem(which is not at my home) or with their servers. And still, they mechnically kept going through their "cmd" and "ipconfig" routine. Their nodal officers and appellate authority are of no use - its just a hog wash to satisfy the goverment and consumer forums. Their technical team is virtually non-existent - they show up only before a sale and then go absconding. they'll never pick up their direct line and will never visit your place other than during installation.
I would advise any one who is even thinking of taking a Reliance Broadband connection to think more than twice and then not take it. If you do take it, you are guaranteed to suffer.
