I love movies that always have sequels cause I want to see if the next film can out do the one before. Have you seen Silence of the Lamb? How about Hannibal? If so then you might of even seen Man Hunter. Those were the first 3 movies in the series of Hannibal Letter. But now we have the movie Red Dragon. I have to start off saying that I was very disappointed with this movie. Not with the actors but with the story line. I had no idea that this movie was just a remake of the first movie in the series called Man Hunter.

Plot
The movie is all about a former FBI Agent named Will Gram who is asked to come back to the force and hunt down a new serial killer called the tooth fairy. Will Gram was know for the capture of the famous Hannibal Lecter. Hannibal was a serial killer who loved to eat body parts from his victims. People called him Hannibal the Cannibal. Anthony Hopkins plays the role of Hannibal and he does a fantastic job. Edward Norton is the FBI agent Will Gram and together these two make the whole movie worth watching.
This movie is a remake of the first movie called “Man Hunter”, except in Man Hunter Anthony Hopkins wasn’t the one who played Hannibal Lecter so I believe that is why they remade this movie so that all the Silence of the Lamb movies had Anthony Hopkins in them. I was glad that they changed Man Hunter to Red Dragon, but I was really disappointed to see that the whole story line except the ending was just the same as Man Hunter.
The movie to me is rather dull and the only reason I watched it was for Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton. I wanted to see how these two actors were able to interact with each other and see how they could change the whole view of the story line. They done a great job, with out Anthony Hopkins this movie would of been a big time bomb. You never get to see Hannibal eat anyone in this movie, that was a big drag, and you don’t really get to see much killing at all in this movie. The tooth fairy wasn’t even ugly looking in fact the actor who played the tooth fairy wasn’t to bad looking. I guess the whole idea behind the tooth fairies killings were due to the fact that his grandmother mentally and physically abused him as a child and now he was insane just like Hannibal.
Of course Hannibal doesn’t want Will Gram to catch the tooth fairy instead Hannibal wants the tooth fairy to finish off the job that he was unable to do to Will and that is kill him. The tooth fairy and Hannibal relay messages in code through a tabloid paper and in that message he tells the tooth fairy where Gram lives and hopes that the tooth fairy ends up killing his whole family. The tooth fairy ends up falling in love with a blind girl and I thought hmm maybe this will change him and he will stop killing people. Well that doesn’t happen instead he changes his mind and does something to one of her friends.
All in all this is a ok movie, I will have to give it a 4 star only because of Anthony Hopkins and Edward Norton. If they were not in this movie then the movie would have gotten at least a 2 star rate. I don’t like movies that update a older version of the same thing. The only difference in this is the ending and I do have to say that I liked the ending much better in the Red Dragon then I did in Man Hunter. So if you have already seen Man Hunter you might not really care to take a peek at this movie. However I would suggest you take that peek just to see Anthony take back his role as Hannibal Lecter. The movie is rather boring so you might also find some time to run to the bath room or get something to munch on until something exciting happens.
