I was a big fan of rechargeitnow.com and have recommended it to many. But, a recent issue with them has changed all my views about them.

I recharged a top-up of Rs100 to my airtel number at around 10 AM a few days ago, but it didn't get recharged. Needless to say, the payment gateway deducted the funds from my account. After a few minutes, I got a mail saying, the recharge has been failed and we will complete it manually anytime soon. Wow! it was a sign of great service, I thanked them for this.

I waited for the recharge to come understanding the issue. I got a message on my phone at 2:30 PM that my account has been recharged with 43.33 (remember, I recharged with 100). This made me thought, maybe they have recharged for Rs50 due to some error and will correct that.

A few minutes later, I got a mail from Rechargeitnow.com saying, your number has been recharged with Rs100 - and the most disappointing thing - THAT WAS A DIFFERENT MOBILE NUMBER - 99747 - which is no way related to me. My number starts with 9801. All order ID in the mail was correct as of my failed recharge. I logged in to their site and checked "my account" > transactions, I could see the failed transaction there and my correct number in that record.

My next step was to contact them - I tried looking for a phone number on their site, but it was nowhere. Then I mailed to their email contactus@rechargeitnow.com as listed at https://rechargeitnow.com/aboutolr.jsp , but that mail BOUNCED.. oops.. the first sign of ripoff.

Then I went ahead and contacted them via https://rechargeitnow.com/support.jsp, I got a confirmation ID but NO REPLY from them till now.

I have no idea where and how can I contact them and that makes me think of a FRAUD even if that was a small sum of money. I am not worried about loosing Rs50 but I am worried about their way to handle the issues.

  1. They have no phone number and no reply to your queries, as of now I didn't receive any.

  2. PRIVACY - They sent me someone else's mobile number to me after recharging, I am sure they must have sent mine to some other client -- what the hell are you doing?

  3. They are constantly displaying emails on their front page -- be ready for getting spammed if you are a winner. Or, I am not sure, if they don't care about your mails getting displayed on main page, they can do anything including selling your contacts for $$$. Would you accept if MS display your email publicly without your permission?

So, the moral is if you are liking RechargeItNow.com very much as I did previously, be ready to get ripped and recharge other's phone with your money. You might feel, it all good for you so why should you care? Yes, I was in the same dilemma, but I saved myself before they could have done anything bigger.

I wish they read this and improve their service so that no one else get affected, or else - there are many like you - STOP ripping off.

I would request my account to be closed and email to be removed from their database to be on secure side. I am concerned about my privacy and I would avoid anything which doesn't take the PRIVACY seriously.

That's all - thank you fore reading and I am open to your questions if you have any.
