March 12th 1993. This day is to Mumbai and India what 9/11 is to America and the world.
Frankly, how many of the readers could recollect what March 12th 1993 is all about.
For those with poor memory, Let me remind you, this was the'BLACK FRIDAY' for India.
Bombay, The commercial capital of India was attacked systematically and methodically by placing highly explosive RDX Bombs at strategic locations.Atleast 13 bombs went off that day, killing and Maiming hundreds.
10 years have passed since this horrifying attack on India took place.
And.
No Memorial service happens for any body who died that day.
World and Indian leaders have if not altogether, almost forgotten such a thing happened.
The guilty are still unpunished, If at all somebody is in jail they are not the main culprits.
And Ms does'nt have a topic recalling March 12th 1993.
SAD. BUT TRUE.
9/11
Four commercial Aircrafts take off from various airports in America and hijackers take control, use them as flying bombs and ram them into the two WTC towers bringing them down, The Pentagon, and crash one in the country side.
The Technique used- Unheard.
The Execution- Perfect.
The Damage - Maximum.
I was on my way home when I got a SMS from a friend informing me about this attack. I just could not belive what I read.
I reached home and switched on the TV, to see to my horror. The plane flying into the WTC tower.
It was unbelievable, was like a scene straight out of a Hollywood block buster.
Planes flying into buildings, Hijackings, The fire fighters, Police, FBI debris flying, people running.
But sadly, this was not fiction.This was harsh and brutal reality.The Face of Terror.
Across news channels they kept playing the tape again and again, After all they had the News of the decade.
The images were haunting.My heart goes out to the people who lost their lives that day and to their kin.
somebody had planned and executed the most horrifying attack any one could have ever imagined.
POST 9/11
It was decided then and there that somebody, somewhere, sometime will be paying a very very heavy price for slapping Uncle SAM.The CIA, The FBI went into a investigation frenzy and came up with a list of 19 Arab Terrorists, who they say were a part of the Taliban. And they also want us to belive that they did not have an inkling that such a thing was being planned.
Sept 10th 2001 the FBI, CIA dont have a clue. Sept 12th They have a entire chain of events that led to 9/11 ready.
Hard to belive.But anyway.
The Taliban, suddenly was public enemy no 1.
Nobody bothered to crush the rise of the Taliban, when they went about blasting Ancient Buddha Statues, when they went
along with Militant organisations of kashmir in the Hijacking of an Indian Airplane to secure the release of 3 militants.
Within a month of 9/11, America started bombing Afghanistan holding its innocent civilian population also equally responsible.
World relations, balance of power suddenly changed.One and sundry wanted to be America's best buddy in its War on Terror.
Pakistan did a volte face by turning its back on it's own creation and supporter, The Taliban.
India was ready to share resources, give it's military and air force bases.
Sad that India doesnt use its military might to punish the Bombay bomb blast accused.
My heart cries equally for those affected by 9/11, 12/03 and to the many innocent Afghan civilians who died as a result of American bombing.
I hope one American General atleast apologizes for bombing the Marriage party in a village in Afghanistan.
The world today is so strong and united on the Terror issue because it happened on AMERICAN soil.
countries like India, Srilanka, Isreal have been targets since so long.But no one and America in particular turned a blind eye.
The Indian parliament was attacked shortly after 9/11, what happened.NOTHING.
Just visualize, god forbid the Whitehouse is attacked.
Terrorisim and terrorists should not be dealt with regard to which country or who is being affected by it.
Days like 03/12 and 9/11 should not be allowed to happen ever again.
And the guilty whether for 9/11 or 03/12 should not go unpunished.
I hope people, atleast we Indians remember 03/12 along with 9/11
