After my Redmi Note 5 Pro, just refused to start one fine day and the dealer advised me that there is a motherboard issue and it would cost me 5500+tax, I decided to hunt for a new phone!
I did quite a bit of analysis before finalizing Realme 7 Mist Blue. My budget was tight and I was looking for something under 15k. And the closest match was this phone with massive 8GB RAM and 128GB storage when I purchased it in Apr-21. Its cost was 15499/- which was Rs. 500 over my budget, however, I also got a 10% discount on Flipkart so overall my purchase was within 15k. (Right now as I write this review in Jun-21, the cost is showing up to 17999/-, which is way expensive, I must say!)
I will not be giving more info here about the technical spec as one can easily get them on Internet - however, I would elaborate a little on my decision-making here.
My evaluation criterion were: Budget(around 15k), RAM(6-8GB), Storage(64-128GB), Processor(one of the top ranked one), Camera(48-64 MP) and lastly the Review Rating(above 4).
And some of the phones that I shortlisted matching these were: Realme7, Redmi Note 9(low-end processor), Realme Narzo 30 Pro 5g(above 15k), Realme X7(above 15k), Redmi Note 10(a bit lower-end processor), Poco M2 Pro(lesser-used brand), Poco X3 G(15k+), Realme 8(17k), Realme X2(around 20k), Redmi 9 Power(6GB Ram, low-end processor), Poco M3(around 20k), Micromax IN 1(less dependable brand).
After the comparison of the above - the closest match to my requirements is Realme 7. It uses MediaTek Helio G95 Processor which is not the best but better. The best processor in this range would be MediaTek Dimensity 800u Processor
Octa-Core/ 2.4 GHz. I used a processor comparison website for comparing these processors and used its ranking in selecting my processor for the mobile.
Others: I have been using the product since 2.5 months now and seems flawless(of course this is what I would expect with its 8GB RAM). Its dual sim, full HD+ resolution, Android 10 OS, Screen, and usage - I don't think it's as good as my previous Redmi Note 5Pro, nevertheless, it's not as bad either.
Rest is all good, performance is excellent - it has plenty of in-built features and functions - many of which I have not yet explored or I am not using. It comes with a Type-C charger with super-fast charging speed. Battery lasts long - no issues.
Overall, if you are looking for a 15k phone with good RAM/Storage, Cam & a good Processor - Realmi 7 is the answer! (Realme 8 is priced higher - all config is almost the same, except it has a better processor than 7).
