A li'll bit of history…..
National College was actually founded in the year 1922.
Kundnani is the man behind National College a man possessed. He wanted to start National College in Bombay and he had to achieve it. He was sure with the help of Barrister H G Advani, he formed the Hyderabad Sind National College Board which at present runs 22 educational institutions including MMK, HR, Jai Hind and KC Colleges. You could safely say that all these popular colleges have their roots in National College, Bandra.
Its in the main heart of Bandra Linking Road.First its land mark was PAMPOSH,National college students use to hang around there whole day but as the yrs change things also change from the last ¾ yrs it has gained a new land mark like Baskin Robin's and McDonald's.
The Wonder years…..
I have studied in this college for the last 6 yrs.When I joined this college I had seen it in a repairing condition,now I have passed out this college 2 years back still till today it’s the same as it was when I had joined. There is no go management in this college,when I joined this college my principal was BIJANI he was the most corrupted principal I have seen in my entire life he use to take money for admissions in the name of funds.
Next came TAGARSSE he was ok like a HITLER he had kept security guards for himself form college money he use act as a PM of the country being a principal he came out with little decipline in college that was good part from his side he was for only 1 year.
Third Principal in my last year was MS ANAND imagine in last 4 years in my college I have seen 3 principles,what do expect from a college where principal a changed like as if u r changing clothes everyday.
Still till date the College Building is under repair as it was 6 yrs before.
Ohh ! One thing I forgot to tell u that next to Nationals college is most happening college MMK college most of the nationals student r seen hanging around near that college which is next door,MMK’s do not have have a big campus that’s why students r seen outside the college,near JAI sandwich Walla who the most famous man near that college.His sandwiches are very tasty most of the students r seen eating there at there off lectures.
National College was once used to be known as a drug addict college ,drugs were sold in olden days we often use to here it from the Ex –students who were there in mid 80’s but today I think it is one of the best college in Science as to my Knowledge.Commerce and Arts also have a very good faculty they work hard for preparing the students for exams.
TUTOR COUNCLING……
National's was the first college to come up with this innovative strategy to bring its students closer to its faculty. To students profs are no longer and to the teachers students aren't just another a the tutor system places 20 students under the care of one professor who acts like a guardian within college. Besides knowing each other by name, tutor groups often go out on lunches movies and picnics and even celebrate each other's birthdays.
HOUSE SYSTEM…..
National college has the house system which we use too have it in school. The houses are named after the five elements of nature Agni, Akash, Vayu, Jal and Prithvi. Two teachers are assigned per house and house captains are chosen from amongst the students. There are many inter-house competitions throughout the year. In fact, even 'Blowfest', National's annual festival, is an intra-college event with inter- house competitions.
SO THINGS ARE LOOKING GOOD…..
Their efforts seem to be paying off for recently, a study conducted by MA students of Bombay University ranked the Science faculty of National College as one of the best, even higher than Ruparel College.
