RBL Bank Ltd in India is undoubtedly one of the worst banks for NRI customers. I have never experienced worse service in my last 5 decades of personal banking- due to their unprofessionalism as well as very very poor and pathetic customer service support, that too as an Insignia HNI customer.
I have had comprehensive ongoing experiences with competitor brands like HSBC, HDFC, Axis, Kotak, ICICI, Yes Bank etc. as an NRI customer in the last 40 years being out the country, so I can safely say I have had the privilege of experiencing normal to premium customer service over the years. I wouldn't recommend anybody to open an account or do any business deal with such Grocery Type bank protocols, SB account(i.e. Local / Domestic or Corporate): specifically with an NRI/ NRO account.
Customers are being lured for opening the account/s but later on one would regret having any business deal in the long term with RBL Bank Ltd.
It's been an absolute pain and mental torture following up with this bank ever since opening NRI/ NRO accounts in the past 5+ years.
Surprisingly, a bank that offers Insignia customers with numerous "privileges', doesn't even support the basics for NRIs such as local rep offices or even document couriers overseas! Unlike other banks who have basic communication and collection and delivery support systems(DHL/Aramex/FedEx etc.) even in case they don't have rep offices abroad such as DBS, IDFC Bandhan bank, Lakshmi Vilas Coop etc. If so, one could imagine what support would be expected to other local domestic customers.!
In a world of automation and AI, this bank is zero digital, with tech easily 15 years behind current trends, and annoys customers with insignificant and unnecessary paperwork that could easily be avoided with simple online system apps.
Upon pressing these matters with the Regional Cluster Head of RBL Mumbai, I was told these are overheads the bank cannot afford, esp. sending docs by courier for NRI customers! Moreover, RBL Bank staff doesn't have privilege of making international calls to NRIs; rather I receive missed calls to be called back on! Another overhead I presume the bank is trying to save.
Imagine my surprise when I see huge marketing spends done for bank promotions across India.
They do not value their customers, but do not realize that the bank is survived and that they are employed because of the Customers.
Due to all the above pain and mental torture I have been going through, I have decided to exit from RBL bank at the earliest and save myself precious time and energy. I'm sure there are banks that believe in customer service above all and RBL is definitely not one of them.
