Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s movie Rang De Basanti is a well-crafted and beautifully told story that entertains you, makes you think and stirs you deep inside in the end.
I happened to see this movie last weekend with a bunch of friends. In the beginning when I saw the movie I felt it to be very boring may be because I expected it to be like the run of the mill type hindi movies, but I was wrong this movie is certainly an eye opener for all specially for youth. It gives a message to all that one should not accept whatever wrong is happening in your surroundings or country, one should at least give it a thought, and try to correct what wrong had happened.
The story begins with the young British filmmaker Sue (Alice Patten) stalking off her budget-hit job to India to make a film on the young revolutionaries based on Bhagat Singh and his efforts for the freedom. Sue gets inspiration to make the film by reading her Grand father’s diary (who was officer at the jail where freedom fighters were locked up…)
The first half of the movie revolves around making film and all the fun they had…but the 2nd part is more serious and shows how thinking of these 4 guys changed after working in the film…
This movie is of ordinary youngsters who don’t recognize the quality in them that they can do something for their country. They were made to realize that by someone. The movie also tells us that we have some or the other special quality in us which we need to realize on our own. Coming back to the story of the movie it was fun specially their college life, the songs are amazing they just blend with the story of the movie thankgod they aren’t forced in a situation like in most hindi movies. The dance, the costume is very ordinary and realistic. I feel this is the best movie in this year so far and everyone should watch it. It is one of the very few movies which have a message in it.
Watch it if not watched…
