You know when a 'Cheran' movie is out, its gonna be a movie with a simple theme which u can watch with the whole family given his record for goody goody movies. So when raman thediya seethai (RTS) was released I didnt so much as give it a second glance even though I knew it would probably be a good movie as I was not in a mood for a soft movie especially not after ironman, hulk, dark knight, hell boy 2 , wanted , hancock ,quantum of solace to name a few rocking movies in 2008... I was still pumping for more action !! . Months later one boring evening ( the cable was out, it was raining and we were on inverter power supply... ie the whole nine yards of misery ) one of my friend happened to have a DVD of saroja and RTS so we settled down to watch as reluctant as I was
A few minutes ( I would suggest u sit thru it for around 15 to 20 mins atleast to warm up) later I began to enjoy the movie. The lightness of the movie was a refreshing change. The basic plot is ;- a good hearted, successful man is finding it real hard to find any brides due to some minor issue in his past. He goes thru one rejection after another and even gets stood up on his wedding !! a depressed cheran is then inspired to find love when he accidentally meets a blind radio jockey ( pasupathy ) who tells him the his own love story.
A rejuvinated cheran finds an alliance that is somewhat warm to him. But then by accident once again he comes to know about a thief/ ruffain ( nithin sathya ) who fell madly in love with the same girl and how he reformed his entire life to her liking even though the girl has rejected him over and over again and is now living a life as a quiet autodriver with a heavy heart and unreturned love. As expected cheran turns down the alliance for the greater good but his meeting with nithin changed his outlook and perspective.
Meanwhile he gets to interact with the first girl who rejected him and grows closer to her but not romantically as his principles wont allow him to bring up the topic again. I am stopping here as I need u guys to enjoy the movie and its unpredictability no matter how slight that is. The plot is nothing great but the way its picturised and the dialogues are excellent not to mention some excellent performances. Cheran did a fine job, while vimala raman was a revelation here. Pasupathy and nithin sathya steal the show totally. Ramya nambeesan, manivannan and navya nair didnt have much to do.
Directed by K.P Jaganath and produced by K . Ramesh with the musical score by Vidyasagar you finally get a movie where u dont have to suspend your sensibilities and logic. I recommend this movie is worth watching atleast once . Trust me you wont regret it. I wrote 3 reviews for this movie here. first one was in detail so I felt u would miss the fun of watching it while the second one was too skimpy to convince you guys to watch it. Here too I gave left huge gaps in the storyline and I am hoping its enough to arouse your curiosity :-) tell me how it goes.....
