Let me start off by saying that I am a huge Anne Rice fan!! and I am appalled at what they did to her book.. or should I say her title.. this movie has almost nothing to do with the book at all except the character names...The original novel was a fantastic book that explained the origin of vampires through fabulous dream sequences and great mythology that was very believable wrapped up in a mystery that climaxed at the end of the book and fully developed characters.. this movies put shame to the Anne Rice name... They destroyed her book .. by making up there own mythologies, plot lines and connections between characters.. they left extremely important characters and sub plots out of the movie.. and considering that this was the third book in the series not making a good movie out of the second book leaves the viewer lost.. as the second book gives the background one needs to know the main character Lestat-- the first movie Interview with the Vampire was ( even though we were, as fans, all afraid of the Tom Cruise casting) was pretty close to the book and got the basic story told without tainting the original story and with great actors.. The Queen of the Damned played like a stand alone movie and they just couldn't make me feel for any of the characters, even though I love these characters in the novels.. This was a pitiful excuse for a novel to movie movie.. I am surprised she even let them put her name on it.. and I only hope and prey that at a later time someone with half a brain does the second book The Vampire Lestat( correctly) and redoes this movie accurately.. I was really really hoping this was going to be a great movie and boy was I wrong!!
