Pyaar Ka Punchnama with a fresh star cast looked promising! Many of my guy friends praised it, So I thought I will watch it and I did today! I have mixed feelings about the movie though. Now I know why the guys were going Ga Ga about it!
The story is pretty simple, lives of three guys change when three girls enter into their lives simultaneously! The entire plot is based on what the girls do the guys! More on this later.
As far as the performances go, the guys are pretty good,Kartikeya Tiwari as Rajat manages to create some sympathy, looks pretty cool too , Rayo Bhakirta as Chowdary has done a decent job all though his character sketch was the weakest I felt , Divyendu Sharma as Liquid is the cutest among the three and has done a fine job!
Among the girls, I think Nushrat Bharucha as Ria was the weakest , the other two ie Ishita Sharma, Sonalli Sehgal were Okay! This isn't a women oriented film anyway so I think they hadn't much to do either.
The music of the movie is just about okay! Ban gaya .... is catchy but the other songs are bellow average and most of them were not needed.
The film has its moments, I liked that long dialogue of Rajat where goes about talking about girls and the karaoke scene between the the guys and Ria!
But at some point its a little dragged, I did feel it could have been around 10-15 minutes shorter! As far as the screenplay goes, its pretty neat, no complaints, it goes according to the story! There is the usual gaali thing which is becoming very common these days!
Being a girl I know what being manipulative is and this movie is based on that single quality about women! I also believe that if a girl wants she can get anything done from a guy! But here, this simple fact is blown out of proportion and say they say truth hurts and it might not be liked by my sisters ( read manipulative bitc- hes! )
Now, my biggest problem with this movie is "Generalization", all the three guys are shown in good light! Bechara no.1 gets a nagging girl friend who ultimately drives him nuts , Bechara No.2 is in love with a girl who uses him and openly tells him that she has a guy and our Bechara does all her office work ( Hello! We don't find time to do our own work) Bechara No.3 is love with a girl who is a free spirit and believes that she has all the freedom in the world and she can sleep with anyone but was in a committed relationship with a guy for 5 years (?)
What is hard to digest is the fact that all the three guys are good and all the three girls are manipulative! I think the director got obsessed with the whole Girls Vs Guys idea and took it too far, had he tried to put in some sense and tried to show the other side too that is a girl at the receiving end, it would have been much enjoyable at least for me!
The movie tries to depict reality but somewhere loses its purpose, the guys are shown crying and to be really bothered about what happened to them, we all now that happens very rarely! As a girl I did not mind the movie nor I detest it but somewhere I felt that it could have been much better if it showed both the sides of the coin.
Over all, its a good time pass flick, nothing more nothing less.
