The moment ABC is born, he becomes conscious about everything. But, he is so dumb then that he does not know how to respond. So, he waits until the right moment. He observes, listens and imitates. While the other two are overly emphasized, imitating others is equally important tool for an effective social life.
Opening line in many science text books say man is a social animal. Yes, we are. We do everything that an animal does but in the end we are superior because we are social.
To begin with - no idea as to how will it end - there is class of men which goes by name of Psycho. Psycho – is someone who loses his contact with reality. As someone rightly said, there is a psycho in you; there is a psycho in me. Psycho in us goes by several names – both positive and negative; Dragon, Fire, Stranger, Animal, Conscience, God, Devil or whatever. So, what are You - a Car, a Flower or Hritik Roshan? Choose your pic.
Cybernetics is something like scientifically gaining control by attending to questions like what happens & what is necessary.
When you put two and two together, you will get the title of this book and a sense that this book should be a self-help guide sort of stuff. Voila! You are way smarter than I thought. You don’t need it. You’re a skimmer. Subway Surfer! Move on. Fire in your Belly keeps you moving. You are your own God. You have Tamed your Dragons. No Stranger bothers you in the Mirror. Your Conscience is Clean. In short, get the Hell out of here. Its KhoKho tournament everywhere. Highly communicable, all you need to escape is a smack at your back. No, no, no, you have got it all wrong my friend. Its not Pro League KhoKho, its Kabbaddi!
Okay, where was I? Hmm. Author of this book is Late Shri MAXWELL MALTZ, a plastic-surgeon. RIP! His belief was to open doors to a new life. In fact, the tag line of Psycho-cybernatics is about a new way to get more living out of life.
In the preface, Maltz speaks of Self-Image. He tried to argue and put forth his self-image by saying that though he is not a psychologist, but having corrected so many faces, he knew well the psyche of any psi underneath that face. He re-searched it. He even went to Germany to study & search for this Self-Image thing. And, them he tried to form a triad between his discovery(recognition) of self-image, being successful, and belief in 21-days practice. By the time, you finish the preface; you ask yourself a crore-rupees question – Why do these authors include a preface, or introduction into their own books? Why not attach them to the end of other books?
Well, in all, there are 15 chapters.
One feature that I have noticed in many self-help books that they always talk of You! They will convince You that the book is solely written to help You. They will talk of numerous instances where help was extended and appreciated. Just like that, when You read it, You will identify Yourself in one or a few of the instances. And, You will accept and agree with the theme of the book that You need help. When You start believing the book and look for the help, it will tell You that only You can help yourself. That ‘I’ am no book of magic. Change Your habits, be good. This book is exactly like one of those! Swear by Maa Geeta Kapoor, this is my observation. Wait, I haven’t even begun the review yet.
Now, let me briefly highlight the chapters.
C 1. Self-Image is like a premise to everything. Always regards yourself as highly as possible. Believe! And, Believe! Imagination is the Safalta Ki Pehli Kunji. Your conscious and unconscious thoughts always put up together in making of You. “What you Believe becomes True.” Confidence also comes. Just like Kareena Kapoor said Free, Free, Free! Concept is explained with numerous examples and instances. Alter your Self-Image, you will transform everything. Spell Check: Lie comes in Belief. So, heal thy emotional scars with realistic Self-Image, not with Ego. Let the Genie Within You keep checking Iyaago, and ensure Master Ali’s safety. Also, upload your Selfie on MouthShut from tm to tm. Excerpt: “You must have a Selfie that you are not ashamed to “be” and one that you can feel free to express creatively, rather than to hide or cover up.” Don’t dress in frustration, when you click. It inhibits true pose. Excuse me! There is a servo-mechanism of consciousness waiting to click the pic.” Okay, Okay, Moving on. .
C 2. Discovering that Secret Mechanism! Everything that ticks has a ticking mechanism behind it. In order to keep ticking in life, You have to discover what actually makes You tick. There should always be a purposeful activity to begin with. Success Instinct is what guides You. What is that, You must find it. Sometimes they glare as clear revelation, other times they stay hidden from the plain sight. All we need is to look up structure closely. Science can only build super-speed computers, but not the operator. At the end of chapter 2, there is a practise exercise.
Aaah. Ungali Dukh Gayi! Bahana #1: Due to paucity of writing space, I am stopping with no mention of other chapters. Else you know. Only person that has ever stopped me from being me is me. Its high time to dehypnotize. Limitation is that you just can’t write another book as a review in response. You have to be brief, precise and clear. Think rationally. Oye.Shut Up!
My recommendation is that it is a must read book. Oye. You hai kaun? No matter what, how rich or poor you are, how intelligent or nincompoop you believe yourself to be, how smart or lazy you are, you have to read this book. It is nothing new that you already do not know of, but it has been put up together well. The flow - the sequencing of numerous instances is very much readable as well as agreeable. Because this book is older than few similar books that I have read, I am forced to believe that those newer writers have based their work upon this book. Busted! New wine in old wineskin. Maltz’s belief that life is adaptive is really worth understanding. Deriving creativity automatically for a Life Force or vice-versa, this concept with support-examples is outstanding.
Maltz also suggested that human being has one basic need. There should always be something to look forward to. Adding more to life, adding possibilities! We must vividly imagine in setting some “over-beliefs” that will serve as a beacon to our present actions. Maltz also discussed blind leap of faith with an open eye. Bahana # 2: Abey kood naa Fattuushankar! With the help of thermostat principle, he tried telling that we must work to achieve that intuition which tells us when to stop, if the things aren’t working out in our favour. Failures add insult to injuries. As a result, stress and emotional distress crop up. Even if one fails, one should not dampen his winning feelings. For, optimism is the best placebo. Success(Living) mechanism should never stop.
This book is a gift, manna from heaven. Be grateful in content. Jai Hanuman Gyaan Gunn Sagar. Consider it a channel of life and read it. Only 300 pages. Not a preachy stuff. Plain words, Simple English! Nothing fancyterrorizing you in the name of psychology. I hope that you will. Do it on your own. Bahana # 3: I don’t have a lever-pulley thing to accelerate your mass to it. Its upon your disposition now. Take position.
Maalik! Dulhan ki vidaai ka waqt ho chala. Bitiaa ko 3 rang ki Choli pehanwa do, son-in-law is a true Patriot. When he will unlock his real personality, your daughter will be glorified. Visualize. Bus bhi karo ab. Chalo, Hugs & Byes, till the time we meet again.:-* You G+Kapoor Aauu! Sun rahi hai na You? Ab Ma Chu, Pita Chu! Peru mein jaao or wherever you like. It’s none of my concern. Guilt must wane thin. Happy as my Vodafone!
