New music of Top 40: Cindy's Favorites
May 20, 2001 12:37 AM 2700 Views

In the past two months, new artists have bloomed, as well as new music by our regular pop hooks.  So much good music in a small amount of time has left me baffled, and gives me so much selection.  I can pick up hip hop/rap music, pop, rock, etc that I will enjoy.  I don't think that has ever been possible.  Country artists are crossing to pop, we have a mixture of rap and rock, we have pop artists and rap artists coming together to create a soundtrack hit.what more could music listeners ask for?

Lady Marmalade - C. Aguilera, Mya, Pink, Lil Kim

This song plays non stop on the radio, but that is definitely not a problem with me.  I bought the soundtrack, Moulin Rouge, last week for this song in particular, and it is a great album!  This song was originally done by Patty Labelle, and has had a whole new rebirth with these four lovely ladies covering it.  I love the vocals, the beat and acoustics, it is an all around hit!

Irresistible - Jessica Simpson

This song has been rotated on top forty radio stations for barely a few weeks, but it is and definitely will be Jessica's biggest hit.  This is one of her first uptempo tracks that has a techno/digital beat.  The video debuted on TRL this week, and it skyrocketed to the number two spot in the matter of a few days, following the Backstreet Boys who hardly ever budge from the number one position.  Jessica has sure got what it takes, the vocals, the looks, the unbelievable lyrics, and the dance moves.  What could be better?

Everybody Doesn't - Amanda

Not only is this a great, upbeat song, but it is also a very useful meaning for teenage girls to listen to.  The song tells about a girl whose boyfriend keeps pressuring her to sleep with him, but she draws the line, telling him that if he loved her, she wouldn't have to.  It sends a good message to its teenage audience, without a doubt.  It is also a very dance-able song, with a great beat, and light pretty vocals.  Oh, and guys, quit telling us'every does it, ' because'EVERYBODY DOESN'T!'

More Than That - Backstreet Boys

I've heard this song ever since the album came out, but for the purpose of those who haven't heard it long, I am adding it here.  It is an extremely beautiful midtempo/ballad with strong vocals.  The lyrics are sweet and unbelievably innocent.  When the video premiered on Monday, I couldn't take my eyes off of it.  I was born just a few miles from where it was filmed, and was so pleased to see such a mature video created by my favorite'Boys.'  I also couldn't help but think how adorable Nick's drama is in the video, as well as AJ's remarkably emotional expressions.  There is definitely no doubt in my mind that these guys are, and always will be, the best!

Dirty Pop - Nsync

Nsync's new song from the upcoming album is very edgy and tells it like it is.  The lyrics are what I have utmost respect for, as well as the change in style.  The uptempo beat is great to dance to, and to say the least.these guys have changed my mind.  They've finally embarked on a new path, instead of continuing to imitate the Backstreet Boys' every move.

Jaded - Aerosmith

I very much enjoy this rock tune.  The lyrics are irresistible as well as the hook and acoustics.  Steve Tyler's voice is amazing, and this goes to show that a band can stay around for longer than a few years.  Definite kudos to Aerosmith for their longlasting fame and respect!

In My Pocket - Mandy Moore

Mandy's latest single, the first single off of her upcoming album, is a complete 180 turn for the young pop diva.  She's grown substantially since her first single, Candy.  I love the style of In My Pocket and its great dance hook.  I was getting quite tired of Many after I Wanna Be With You, but as most of these artists have done, she's totally changed my mind.

What music I can't wait to hear

I am impatiently awaiting Britney Spears' and Christina Aguilera's new albums, as well as Nsync's.  There are certain songs off of BSB's Black & Blue that I hope will be released as a single(Not For Me, Get Another Boyfriend, I Promise You).  I love so much of what's going on in the music world right now, and I can't wait for what's next!
