I bought a 75g pack of Priyagold Crack 'n' Cheers Biscuits. It was packed in 08/04. I enjoyed eating it but it has left a slightly bitter taste in the throat. I decided to investigate.
When I examined the pack in detail I found a welcome information on it, the e-mail address and the address of its Website. I visited the Website and found it has quite useful information. I had sent an e-mail informing them about my experience with their biscuit. I am waiting for their reply and will share the information with MS members. What has impressed me is the e-mail and URL information on the pack. This is one information which is lacking in almost all products.
If a consumer wishes to lodge a complaint he has no address with him. I wanted to get some information from Colgate-Palmolive about their toothpaste but so far I have not succeeded. I have searched all their international and Indian Websites but could find an address where I can sent my query. I then sent an e-mail to one name given in their main Website but it could not be delivered as address was found wrong. Anyway, in case of Priyagold this was a pleasant surprise for me.
I want that every company should give on their product/packing the name of a responsible person who can be contacted by the consumer in case of a complaint. This is essential if consumer interest is to be protected. Priyagold has taken a lead and others should follow. Now about the bitter taste.
Priyagold biscuit has ISI mark on it as per IS 1011. This standard specifies a test about being crisp and good taste of the biscuits. As it is a subjective test, a panel of consumers is constituted having members of varied interests - young, old, children, male, female, educated, uneducated. the purpose is to have a representative body of the people. Panel members eat biscuits and give their opinion. Based on this it is decided whether biscuit is crisp, tasty and enjoyable in eating. I hope Priyagold conduct this test regularly.
Review details have a question - Is it certified by FDA? In India it is ISI mark not FDA.
I thought I will share my findings with you. As and when I get some more information I will post it as comments.
