My dad is normally not into non-brand stuffs but sometimes, some offers are so attractive that you just can’t resist. Obviously, every product we have brought into our house is from a renowned brand that promises quality and durability, there are some products which did get into our nerves.
We purchased the Preethi Lavender PRO Mixer Grinder during an offer period run by Big Bazaar. The appliance which is actually priced at Rs.3500 approximately at offline and online stores, was swept at Rs.1000 only by us after having done a shopping above Rs.5000. Now who lets go of such deals? My dad doesn’t. We all know things which comes free are of no value. They can break down anytime but hey, we paid Rs.1000 for this stuff.
Additionally, the Preethi Lavender PRO Mixer Grinder came with a year warranty. Initially for a month, the appliance delivered what can be called an optimal performance. The problem started next. It was when my mother was grinding wet rice for Dosa that the mixer short circuited. Even though my dad blamed my mother for having put such stuff into the mixer, but isn’t this what mixer grinders are made for?
We contacted the Big Bazaar outlet from where we purchased the item and they gave us an address of a shop, where we could claim our guarantee. Soon, the appliance was collected and we were asked to return after a week to recollect it. Imagine! A week! I mean seriously. Anyways, we co-operated. However, after a week when we reached the shop, it was still not repaired and the keeper asked for more time. My father isn’t someone of sorts to take it easy so after much of an argument, the keeper fixed it in front of us and handed us the product. But this was not it.
After two months of highly cautious use, the mixer broke down again. Here I would like to point out a few things which is really annoying about this product.
1.) Never put a heavy substance on the grinder. It completely breaks down. This mixer is meant for light grinding only.
2.) The blades are of cheap steel. After having used the mixer for about three months, the blades got tapered, even though we had used the appliance for light purpose only.
3.) Short Circuiting is a major problem of this mixer. Every now and then the mixer short circuits. We have a proper earthing and wiring connection in our house. Plus there is no issue of voltage fluctuation, yet this happened. Wonder what would happen in case of low voltage regions.
4.) Build Quality of the mixer is very cheap. It almost feels like plastic and with a slight pressure, bends instantly.
5.) Out of the three jars that we receive with the product, one was faulty and never worked.
The Preethi Lavender PRO Mixer Grinder has been dumped to one corner of our house along with other useless stuff after having caused problem for the third time in a few months. We didn’t claim any warranty because it was trouble enough. I would highly recommend to buy a Bajaj or Maharaja mixer rather than invest a single buck in this product. Not worth it.
