Recently my son had returned home from his hostel on account of the durga puja holidays. His return is usually the time that we like to spend as a family in some outing or special activity or something like that. But just one week was hardly enough to plan anything outside hyderabad, the best we could do was watch a movie one day. Having had real bad experiences with Adlabs ( read my previous review for details), we quickly ruled that out.
However, Kung fu Panda seemed to be a nice good movie running at another multiplex, The Prasads I Max. Usually these guys see all their movies by downloading from the net in the hostel , as they have free access to the internet in all their rooms. But somehow he(my son) had also not seen this one. And as I have explaiened earlier, once we (me and my son) are in majority its always that much easier convincing my wife.
So we set out to this complex for the late night show of Kung fu Panda one day.
Location and Parking
Prasads multiplex is located right next to the Hussain Sagar lake and the NTR gardens. This area usually has very limited traffic is the setting is truly picturesque. The complex has ample parking in its basement and also a lot of open parking in the grounds attached to the main theater complex. The charges are reasonable at about Rs 10 and the guards are very well behaved and courteous. *
The Complex
This is a beautifully built complex I must admit. It has 5-6 queues for the purchase of tickets outside only, and you are not likely to encounter long waiting periods at any time. There are also several small TV screens that display the availability of tickets of the various shows that are currently running. In addition to this if you have blocked the tickets on the internet than you can straight away pick them up from separate windows on the inside of the complex. There are 3-4 windows for this purpose also.
With several floors there are endless opertunities for shopping right from clothes to shoes, electronics, CDs music and what not. In fact its more like a mall than a multiplex.
Not only that there are various eating options too. Theres an OHRI’s food court plus several other counters for icecreams, chocos, corn, etc. In fact surprise of surprises theres a Subway restaurant too !
In addition to this there are also some theme parks inside. We unfortunately did not have the opportunity to go inside any of them but they appeared like a scary Halloween world and some other similar theme worlds. There is also one complete floor dedicated to gaming.
All in all I would say that its not just a regular multiplex but a complete family entertainment complex and one could easily spend a full day of fun masti and shopping here.
The I Max Experience
There are 4 regular screen theatres here plus one that is called the I MAX. The ticket prices to the I max are double the regular ones but friends, this is one hell of an experience watching a movie here. Fortunately Kung Fu panda was showing on the I Max. The size of the screen as well as the hall really stunned us when we entered here. Before start of the movie they gave us an introduction to what was special about the I Max. It’s the largest screen in India with very special digital quality picture and sound.
It was surely a superb experience watching the movie here. The clarity and the sound quality were stunning. When the movie finished we did not even come to know. Now whether this should be attributed to the beautiful animated Kung Fu Panda or to one of Indias best theatre I cant say for sure. But I would surely like to come back for a revisit of The Dark Night that we saw in the Adlabs !
In addition to this the complex also has a theatre where 3 D movies are shown. I have personally not vsited there but have heard that it too is quite an experience in itself. We have now reserved going there for the time when my son comes home during the summer holidays.
The Peripheral Facilities
Like I mentioned before other facilities like food etc are all available in abundance here. In fact when we were here we even selected a washing machine from the LG gallery which we later came back and purchased. Not only this there is even an ATM machine within the complex for your emergency cash needs ! You could play billiards or pool, or several other games if you had more time on your hands. The toilets are pretty clean and never too crowded.
Overall, its one hell of an experience and you can keep coming back here even if you do not want to watch a movie !
