I had taken health policy for my mother last year... their agent Nauman visited and he sold us a policy faking and lieing various benefits of the policy which we did not realize until the policy document came to us. Also we had handed over all the medical documents to this guy but he pretended he had uploaded into his system but he hadn't actually.
My mother had to be hospitalized due to some sudden medical issue and we thought of raising cashless claim as the company was having that hospital in its network. However, we were told by Manipalcigna they were not able to establish liability and hence cancelled the cashless claim and asked us to go for reimbursement.
We called Policybazaar as they had assured us of helping when policy company wouldn't help but their relationship manager denied helping instead asked us to wait for some time for him to call me which never happened. We waited for them to call us but they did not like they were doing while selling the policy. And all this while the hospital TPA team was regularly sending all medical documents to Manipalcigna.
4 days passed and now it was time for discharge neither Policybazaar came forward to guide us nor there was any willingness from Manipalcigna's side to process the claim. I had to make payment from my pocket and get the discharge.
Later on, I tried requesting Policybazaar for Reimbursement but got email from Manipalcigna that they were voiding the policy as we did not disclose medical history which was a big lie. We had handed over all the documents to Policybazaar agent. When we tried contacting that Nauman he stopped responding to text messages and phone calls. We realized now that we were intentionally cheated. That agent fooled us and now we were clueless how to prove ourselves of having given all the medical documents.
We now realized the phone call from Insurance Company's medical agent was to be taken seriously as we remember they would only ask you to answer in yes or no and they can easily manipulate the responses as per their requirements later on. Now we were cheated and also left with burden of paying the premium installments out of fear of being labeled defaulted if we don't pay.
I request everyone reading this review to not take policy from any agent visiting you, if you do pls ensure to have written confirmations as proof with you. Also ask the agent to list down the policy benefits in writing as they will be intentionally exaggerating the policy benefits in order to sell the same to you. Also, the call from medical agent is to be taken very seriously as they will take all possible advantage of it to manipulate it into nondisclosure of Health issues and not process your claim. All this can have very serious consequences if you don't have any savings with you, as they are sure to decline the claim and your relative will be left without treatment or this can even cost their life during trying time if you will not be in situation to pay the medical bills from your pocket.
Never take personal health insurance policies, these people are cheats and even IRDAI can't do anything to help you out!
