POGO has to be the worst kids channel out there...

I write this review as I am absolutely furious at POGO and here's why. This channel used to be one of those lovely channels that had a wide range of programs that really woke up the kid inside you. Namely Thomas and Friends, Noddy, Just for laughs, Mr.Bean and so on. The shows Thomas and Friends and Noddy sort of had good values which kids could take irrespective of caste, creed, religion or whatever.

I am not going to talk religions here nor I wish to discriminate or question anybody's faith. I respect ever religion just like I respect my friends who believe in different faiths. However, if you look at a program schedule for a day, for example try to fish out the program schedule for 17-MAR-2012. From 7:00 AM in the morning till 9:45 PM it is either "Chota Bheem" or Bheem and Krishna, Krishna and Balram etc. And like an icing on the cake, all these programs repeat on an endless loop. So if you watched the Chota Bheem in the morning at 9:00 AM, you could watch the same in the afternoon as well as in the evening and this is the extent of repeats that are being aired by pogo tv. From what was a great fun and informative channel, it has become probably one of the most boring channels even for kids who are just 2 years old.

As I mentioned earlier, my intention is not to question a religious faith here, but on TV that is all kids have to take forcefully. India is a country where people of different faiths live together in harmony. There might be good stuff that you can take from every faith too. For example the holy trinity is the same for Hinduism as well as Christianity however, the meaning for the holy trinity is different. On Pogo TV the series that are aired are stories has a lot of connection with the holy books of the Hindus. I consider them very holy too, but when it is broken down to kids in the form of cartoons, Chota Bheem becomes the ultimate god who can destroy anything that comes his way. Well what on earth has god got to do then, if chota bheem has taken away his job?? Did god get fired according to POGO TV???.

As a young kid in the 80's I had the privilege of watching Mahabharat and Ramayan and I still have fond memories of the whole thing growing up as a catholic boy. I was really fascinated by the whole series just like any kid in the 80's and 90's. That was because what I saw was real and it was things that people believed, respected and worshiped. Chota Bheem or the new localized programs that are aired on POGO TV fails to have any such values.

I believe what a kid needs from the age of 3 to 8 is not religion, instead it should be good values that makes him/her a compassionate and a good human being. If this is achieved then religion and faith in god, whatever he/she believes may be Krishna, Allah or Jesus Christ.

Pogo, you really need to pull up your socks, work on your program schedules. bring back the good old shows you had. Thomas and Friends, Noddy, Just for Laughs or if not them something that is interesting to kids and has a lot of moral values to take than airing the same thing on endless repeat.

To me Pogo TV is not living up to its mark at all for the last 2 years and I will never ever subscribe to them nor I would recommend anyone else to pay for nothing to get ripped off.
